My grandson did his first trail run today:

Daughter in law said:

I'm pretty sure we ran 2 miles, plus. There were definitely a few breaks and breath catches along the way, but he rocked it. It marked the beginning of many trail runs together with my baby, and made me so excited to share one of my many loves with him! pure happiness.

FYI- If she has a smart phone there is an app called mapmyrun or another one called runkeeper that will gps track you and tell you how far and how long.

I wasn't sure if you had more than one grandson. That's awesome!!:00hour

Yes, just the one grandchild. They live in Portland Oregon and live that Portland lifestyle. As a family they do a lot of camping and running and climbing. Daughter in law has climbed MT Hood many times along with face climbing. Son plays hockey and runs and climbs too. Been to visit a few times, beautiful country, lots of wineries.

Sounds cool, there is a whole group of trail/running apps in the appstore and many of them are free. I've hear great things about Portland,Oregon if you have family there and like it you should definitely try to visit more often. It's on my short list of "states/cities I have never been to but would like to go".

I visit when I can, beautiful country, very clean and very green. Visited a few wineries last time I was there. The Great Northwest, oh yeah.
