My New TV......

No, what will that do for me? I'm pretty much a rookie at this HD thing. I almost bought a tv at Circuit City last week but the salesman pretty much talked me out of it by telling me you need this and this and that and some more of this. My head was spinning by the time I left.

I'm going to order the HD package from Time Warner but it typically takes them a couple of weeks to show up around here. I assume I need an HDMI cable (will the $50.00 ones at Walmart do the same thing that the $120.00 ones at Best Buy/Circuit City do?). They really push the Monster Surge Protecters, is that necessary? Don't have surround sound but I'm sure that's just a matter of time. I supoose I need a Blue Ray DVD player (trying to convince the wife that a PS3 is cheaper and does the same thing......am I right?). Everything that you need to go with it will cost me as much as the tv by the time I'm done........I sure hope it's worth it.

Any help or advice you guys can offer, I'm all ears......thanks.

Don't buy the HDMI cables from anywhere other than http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024004&p_id=2504&seq=1&format=2&style=

I have bought from here and they are legit. Can't beat the price.

they have already come out with a player that plays both blu ray and hd dvds, i have only sony products in my house and the blu ray in my opinion is the best player. i'm sure some will feel the hd dvd is better but that is the way it goes. both are great just really a matter of preference.

Thanks for all the info and help guys, I appreciate it.

Ronnie.......yeah, can't wait for baseball to get going again. Got off to a good start last year but faded in the middle. Hopefully can make some decent coin this year.

NDNFan........We're way overdue to play some cards. It's probably been over a year. What happened to the days of playing every other weekend? I'll have to get something set up, maybe during March Madness sometime. Don't forget to bring the Susan B. Anthony's. :SIB

Very nice. At the end of the month I am buying the 60 inch Vizio plasma from Costco for $2999 -$300 rebate. I have a 50 inch now but can't wait to get the 60 inch:)

Just curious as to how the 50 inch picture on that Vizio is. I've seen them at Walmart and the picture seems to be pretty good. How is it holding up?
