My P.O.S desktop is about to go flying

Almost always use my laptop these days, and I finally got around to downloading service pack 2 for XP on the desktop and immediatly after it is running slower than anything, can't imagine this is a coincidence. Anyone got a fix for this before it gets the boot?

Have you defreagged the hard drive

It boots up quick enough, then it's gets slower than anything I have ever seen. Checked for viruses and spyware, nothing found. It has a pentium 3 (not sure the exact speed right now) and 512 meg of memory, this thing was quick enough before and all of the sudden it hit a wall.

I had the same problem. Except my whole computer froze and the only way I could get it back up was to pull the plug from the wall and then restart the computer.The only fix that worked for me was to set my computer back to the day before I downloaded the SP2. I dont think I am missing much by not having it because I didnt have any problems before.

Its now running great and I am back to downloading porn at the speed of light. :clap: :clap:

ps 2 is nothing but a nightmare, did it about a month ago and had to go buy a new notebook because it messed stuff up so much on my laptop which was only 1 year old, got it fixed and had it taken off, now have a back up laptop, it is a peice of shit don't down load it if you are ask to.

Fletch, I have it on my laptop, which I use every day and have had absolutly no problem with it at all, I just think this desktop has seen better days, this just gives me an excuse to buy another one.

It messed all my settings up had to do least msn said with nortoin and other extra spyware i had, it got fixed but never had a problem till i added it, the new laptop is great anyway, has xp pro and office pro, intel pentium 4 processor 2.8 Ghz, can do multiple applications thanks to juiced up MB, and has a 125HSM speed booster, it should for what it cost but love it, not that i did not like old laptop and this has plasma screen 17 inch. would never bought it if i did not need it that day , would of waited to have other one fixed or gone to the desk top in jerri's room. and has a cool saltwater fis tank that has great sound fish looks real and the change and swim different directions never the same, even star fish moves as well as the crab To bad i don't know how to use any of it and never will good for watching dvd's on a plane when i go back east special batt cell with a back up one. right now not even in no need for them to be in.

What kind of laptop is it if you don't mind. Mine is a Toshiba Satelitte which I am very happy with, like the widescreen display for DVD's.
