Here are My Horse Picks for Saturday 10/14.
I have posted three picks for each race as requested, in case you want to box exacta's and Tri's. The order is my first, second and third picks for each race. Races with LS worthy of four horse Tri Box for value.
RESULT LOG AT BOTTOM
At Belmont today, we have Major Stake races with an eye on the Breeders Cup races at Churchill later next Month. The big races on the card are as follows;
6th race--The Frizette----(Grade 1)
2 yr olds (Fillies) at a 1 1/16 Miles
Two horses stand out in this race. The #6 Raging Fever with Bailey and #9 Dancinginmydreams with Day. These two horses ran against each other with Raging Fever winning by a head last time. #1 Stormy Pick and #7 Ilusoria will be in the hunt to. I look for Raging Fever with Bailey and Dancinginmydreams with Day to be at the wire again. Belmont percentagefor front running winner so far has put a strong bias that should favor both of these horses. My pick order is 6-9-1-7.
7th race--The Forest Hills--(Grade 2)
3 yr olds and up at 6 Furlongs
In this race Kelly Kip is the speedster. The Track bias and his workouts since his recovery from a hock infection suggest that he is in shape and ready to roll. I think he could lead and go all the way (sorry thinking of Football?). Two other horses will give him a test and they are Delaware Township who broke poorly and was overused in his last race but finished fourth. He's cutting back to 6 Furlongs and has a shot. The other horse could end up the favorite and that is Forrest Camp. If Rojas gives Kelly Kip a good ride he wins. My pick order is 2-6-1-4.
8th race--The Beldame------(Grade 1)
3 yr old and up (Fillies & Mares) at 1 1/8 Miles
This race certainly looks like a two horse racebetween #6 Beautiful Pleasure and #1 Riboletta. I really think you have the cream of the crop in these two runners. So I look for these two at the wire with #3 Pentatonic running third. I will give the nod in this race to the east coast horse #6 Beautiful Pleasure. My pick order
is 6-1-3.
9th race--The Champange--(Grade 1)
2 yr olds at a 1 1/16 Miles
I've looked at a couple of horses in this race. It looks like the most open race of the Stakes. Tuff race to call. The horses that appeal to me are #1 AP Valentine, #2 Point Given, #4 Yonaguska, #5 City Zip, #6 Griffinite, #7 Trailthefox and #9 Saint Verre. #5 City Zip is the highest rated but the rest of these horse are rated right behind him. There is not much of a difference at all. Generally, the ratings will not be as close. I could give an explanation on all but it would be quite lengthly so I'll just give you the picks. My pick order is 2-5-4-1.
10th race--Jockey Club Gold Cup--(Grade 1)
3 yr olds and up at a 1 1/4 Miles
This race is a rerun of an early race with some of these horses. I've like both Behrens and Lemon Drop Kid from day one. Both horses are great ones and going into this race Lemon Drop Kid will be the favorite. I have to share something about Behrens and other horses that have gone over to the desert and raced for the big money in Dubai. It seems that when they come back their not the same. Well, Behrens has been another example of this BUT in his last race he seemed to look like the Behrens of old. I got to pick him today because he has benn working great since his last race and if he is ever going to beat Lemon Drop Kid it will be today.
My pick order is 5-4-7-1.
