OK...I am going to try and be as short and sweet as possible here and will post my plays at the end....
As I have recently been involved with a service.....I learned a very important lesson, and hopefully this will enlighten some of you guys that follow services to not rely on them quite so much. Now, I am not saying that this is true in all cases, but for the most part, I guess this is the way they do business.
I am not longer with the service because I guess my method of choosing games is not acceptable in the business, LOL. It is not because I lost games....I didnt. It is because I am a contrarian. I would post picks on the site that no one else would have.
For example, I posted the 49ers against the Bucs when the 49ers beat them soundly at home. Later on, I posted Jacksonville with points at home against the Titans. I went 1-1 on those plays, but I was informed that, if you make contrarian picks, your client base will be so pissed at you if you lose. More so, than if you take the better team and lose. So basically, what I am saying is, that most of these guys are squares. They know nothing more than the regular guy, or at least they wont sell you more than what you already know. Last week, most sold Philadelphia. We knew that was the "proper" play anyways. Now the contrarian I am, I would be on Atlanta, if I were to play the game. I layed off it however.
So, I am done with the whole service deal, that is unless I start one up myself.
The lesson here is....dont just think because someone is running a service that you are getting good picks. If you need a service because you simply do not have the time to do your own homework, that is fine. But you MUST do your homework and find out what kind of plays a handicapper gives out before you plop your money down or follow someone's picks. If you see a handicapper on Indianapolis or Minnesota today, you might want to do a little more research on the handicapper. Those are easy picks to make. I personally, am not touching those games.
I kind of have a new perspective on choosing games. I am still a contrarian, but I do not touch the games where I view the underdog as a terrible team (ie. San Diego, Jacksonville, etc.) So here are my picks this week!
Detroit -1
Oakland +3.5
Washington +3.5
Indy/Jax Under 44
KC/Cleve Over 43
Oakland/NYJ Over 38
Maybe more to come!
Good Luck!
