9-2-1 last 2 weeks.

Capping KU's game today:

Under 136
---- I would lean towards KU if picking a side, but I can't pull the trigger. I think this is going to be a low scoring affair. The Suttons are good coaches, and realize that their team cannot run-and-gun with the Hawks, so they will try to slow down the tempo and get the inside game going, where they know they can get the over-anxious KU big men in foul trouble (namely Giles).
KU's Big 12 games always seem like they FLY over or go WAY under, and this just feels like one of the games that is going to stay under that number. OSU has not scored over 65 points in their last four games, which includes the brutal 44 they put up against A&M on Saturday, although they did cover in that contest.

Good luck guys.

BLG-

I am pleasantly surprised, yeah.

I actually thought they would play slightly better early on then they did, but they are certainly exceeding my expectations in Big 12 play...

Did you see Wright tonight? It usually doesn't show up in the stat line, but he makes 3 or 4 plays a game that make my jaw drop. He is going to be a freak next year.

Jay...

What were your expectations? The conference is putrid, and you havent played Texas. They got OU at home. They have been a favorite in every conference game. Losing to KState at home all alone has to be less than expectations.

Sun...

I expected them to start better than they did... I think they opened 3-4... They played ugly against Arkansas and Nevada in games they should have won...

But I also didn't think they would "peak" this early in the season... They are playing like world beaters right now. I realize the competition isn't top flight, I will give you that. But they played awful against Oklahoma, who is one of the top 15 teams in the country in my opinion, and still managed to win. They have beaten some teams that defend their home court very well regardless of talent, like tonight at OSU. They ripped Colorado on the road, which is a quality win, even though Colorado isn't that good...

But I don't agree with the assesment that the conferance is putrid. Everyone is saying all the conferances are down. I have heard the Pac-10 is down, I have heard the SEC is down, I have heard the Big 12 is down. About the only conferances that people think are halfway decent are the Big East and the Big 10. I don't think you can knock KU for ripping off 8 straight wins the Big 12 by minimizing it as a putrid conferance. It is still among the top 5 conferances in the land, in my opinion...

I do respect your hoops knowledge a lot though, and I agree that they will probably get spanked in Austin... But would you want to play them in the tournament?

Wasnt ripping KU. Just saying I dont understand your expectations in the conference. To me 2 losses right now is underachieving. One slip I can see - happens to everyone - but 2 losses right now in this league with their talent, even as young as it is, I just dont see how that "exceeds expectations," when you probably have a loss at texas to come.

I am one who thinks the quality nationwide is down. Even in the heralded Big East. They could have a 48 team toruney this year and undeserving teams would get in.

As for KU, we will know more about them after the Texas game. My belief is it is somewhat like last year - I could see them winning 2-3 games in teh Big Dance or just as easily going out in the first round. Next year should be a big year for them. Especially if Aldridge and Gibson leave - it will be KU and the 11 dwarves.

I see where you are coming from. I still don't think two losses is underachieving... With the amount of young guys we have, if someone had told me at this point that we would have only two Big 12 losses, I would have been very happy...

The losses to KSU and Mizzou are awful, but I think they are also justifiable... I don't know if you have ever been to a KU-MU game, but they are nuts, and I am not surprised that the young guys kind of wet the bed at the end of that one, in hindsight... I can't really explain the KSU game, except to say that KSU played out of their minds that game...

I am very much looking forward to next year... I think KU will be among the 2 or 3 favorites to win the National Title... what do you think? I think Gibson is almost a lock to leave, I am not sure about Aldridge... you would know a lot more about that than I would...

Probably the opposite.

Aldridge may even be the No 1 pick. Gibson is nowhere near NBA ready.

Texas has some stud froshes coming in though. I think if everybody stayed they would be the team to beat next year. But it wont happen. Still sick about TJ Ford leaving. Probably cost the Horns a title.

Absolutely agree...

I couldn't have been happier when he left... What an incredible college player... Looks like he is going to be better than people thought in the pros as well.
