President Bush won a decisive victory last night in St. Louis, Missouri. John Kerry made his plan for small business clear: more government regulation, more government spending, and government-run health care.

On Taxes: Senator Kerry falsely asserted that "the only people affected" by his tax plan are the "top income earners" when in fact it would severely hurt small businesses. By rolling back the tax cut, Kerry would hurt small business owners who pay their taxes at the individual rates. This includes more than 900,000 small business owners who pay in the top two rates.

On Health Care: Senator Kerry's $1.5 trillion government-run health care plan would take away choices without reducing the cost of health care. The only way they can pay for their plan is through raising taxes on individuals, small businesses, and families.

On Environmental Regulations: Senator Kerry says he wants to create jobs and stimulate manufacturing jobs yet he supports the Kyoto Protocol and has voted in favor of global warming legislation that would significantly drive up energy costs, force high paying American jobs to go to other countries that have limited controls on pollution and no obligations or controls on greenhouse gases. 1. Taxes
It has been shown through independent economic and taxation think tanks that Bush's tax cuts have vastly favored the upper income and by and large have not given the average working man whom punches a clock each day much of a break. Kerry is right the vast majority of small businesses in the US would never even feel his tax increase as less that 15% of small businesses in the US make a profit of over 200k. In reality the vast majority of small businesses have garned very little from Bush's tax cuts!

Health Care
Taking away choice is so misleading, this plan would act just like a PPO that the vast majority of americans have through their employers and yes you are limited to whom each plan has in their directory of providers but your choices are not severely limited. At least this is a start to get folks health care coverage, Bush gave no options that were actually obtainable for lower income folks to get coverage.

Environment
I dont think anyone has been able to deduce what Bush planned to do for the environment as he sounded like a moron with no clue and do you actually think the energy prices would go much more higher than when Bush has created?

I disagree MC on frivilous lawsuits.On federal level you may be correct because of Dems completely against it, despite what Kerry says---but on state level where where this is enough of conservative votes to pass it it has passed and been inacted and results is astounding and will leave an option that even most liberal staes will be forced to accept or lose all their doctors.

Case in point--Texas passed tort reform one year ago and this is results--

You can't give companies a license to steal or kill. Millions of people take drugs and some have bad effects or even deaths from taking them. I feel they all should be paid, but cap it. I know this will strike a bad chord, but the twin tower deaths families not only received their loved one's insurance but Millions of Dollars from the State and airlines settling lawsuits. My father-in-law traveled for Shell oil many years ago.. He always said if he was killed on the job, sue them and get more money. Military dying in Iraq, their families only get a small amount plus their insurance if it pays. A lot of policies don't pay in combat or war. In my home town a class action lawsuit against our largest employer for polluting the air only on the south side where our Spanish and blacks lived cost the company millions of dollars and the people only collected $12.00 or so for the 3000 who claimed the air made them sick. People got on TV and said the lawyers lied to them and told them if they signed on they could get thousands. Trail lawyers cost the people of America plenty and it's getting out of hand.

Lawyers get a bad rap, there are some real ambulance chasers out there but there are many that really help others deal with and fight injustice. I agree that those who were hurt taking vioxx should get some compensation. They will sue the drug maker, and the doctors that prescribed it also as they were aware of possible side effects. This is a perfect example of why drugs from Cananda haven't been allowed into the US yet. The FDA has to make sure things are safe as possible. Drug makers within the US confines can be held accountable, in a foreign country it is much harder. Just because a drug may come from Cananda doesn't mean it was created there. Industry draws resources from all over the world before exporting to the US. I hope we can import drugs from Canada soon, think the cautious route chosen by Bush to do this in the right way so we can have as few a problems later.

The problem goes way beyond drug companies. When the public saw the HUGE amounts the attorneys won in tobacco cases, then every company was a target. Walmart gets sued daily, so does all the big companies. The attorneys proved if you could get it to the jury, you will win. The juries are uneducated people that believe most anything. Example is the tobacco lawsuits. AFTER the government made the companies put warnings on the packages, people still sued and won millions. Hugh amount of money has been awarded to car wreck victims.The state of Mississippi is the worst. Most companies settle out of court because they don't want to spend millions to defend the suits. Fall down at Walmart and they will give you 20,000 for not suing. Who pays for that? EVERYONE.

You can criticize lawyers but in reality they serve a necessary purpose to defend people that have been misled or harmed by a corporation or a individual. Yes I agree with you on smokers getting outrageous settlements and I think its terrible but on the other hand if tobacco companies had been forthcoming and honest from the get go and declared just how damaging cig's were when they had the data then these people would not have a leg to stand on. The tobacco companies were dishonest and evasive about the data that they had nearly forty years ago that is why they should also be help accountable. Most of these people suing would of still smoked regardless of any warnings from the tobacco companies but they could of covered there a$$ by being upfront about the dangers. If we limit the amount of settlements someone can get from a corporation then what is to stop the corporation from producing harmful products? There must be a check and balance system in order to keep evil people from harming the general public, in a perfect world where everyone had the good of everyone else in their hearts we would not need lawsuits but we have evil people lurking that prey on the weak. Kenneth Lay is a perfect example, how many people lost money with this guys corruption? How many retired people had a bundle tied up in this stock and they were misled through fraudulent accounting on the health of this company, don't they deserve a right to seek damages from this corporation when they were misled, if they had known about what shape the company was in then more than likely they would have pulled their funds and at least saved some of their nest egg.

I think they should be punished but at what cost and to who. without going over some of these judgements I think you would agree many are EXTREMELY excessive--and consumers and workers are hit equally by their stock devalued-loss of jobs--and increase in future prices to recoup loss.

I think an arbitricion board would do the same with fair judgements especially in light of recipient getting all the award not 1/2. Also corporations that have faulty products don't last long in the market place--which is some deterent for intentional fraud.

and on the Kenneth Lays-- incararating people like him in general prisons would go a long way in punishment fitting crime--he could then see what it is like to pay "out the ass" like the people he robbed. Country club prisons are no deterent what so ever in fact I would say they are just the opposite.
