President Bush won a decisive victory last night in St. Louis, Missouri. John Kerry made his plan for small business clear: more government regulation, more government spending, and government-run health care.

On Taxes: Senator Kerry falsely asserted that "the only people affected" by his tax plan are the "top income earners" when in fact it would severely hurt small businesses. By rolling back the tax cut, Kerry would hurt small business owners who pay their taxes at the individual rates. This includes more than 900,000 small business owners who pay in the top two rates.

On Health Care: Senator Kerry's $1.5 trillion government-run health care plan would take away choices without reducing the cost of health care. The only way they can pay for their plan is through raising taxes on individuals, small businesses, and families.

On Environmental Regulations: Senator Kerry says he wants to create jobs and stimulate manufacturing jobs yet he supports the Kyoto Protocol and has voted in favor of global warming legislation that would significantly drive up energy costs, force high paying American jobs to go to other countries that have limited controls on pollution and no obligations or controls on greenhouse gases. The fact is:
Kyoto Would Kill 2.6 Million American Jobs
Kyoto Would Raise Gas Prices By 65 Cents Per Gallon

On Frivolous Lawsuits: Senator Kerry claimed that he supports tort reform, but his record speaks for itself: he voted five times against a cap on punitive damages for small businesses, voted at least ten times to block medical liability reform, opposed limiting punitive damages in product liability cases, and opposed a loser pays system for security fraud lawsuits.

With 24 days left, we need your help to continue the momentum!

TWO Ways to Help President Bush Right Now:

1. VOTE EARLY. You may be able to cast your vote now via an absentee ballot. State laws allow absentee ballots to be cast if you cannot vote on Election Day. Please refer to www.GeorgeWBush.com/VoteEarly to determine whether you are eligible to cast an absentee ballot in your state. If you will not be able to vote on Election Day, and meet the criteria, I encourage you to take this chance and vote absentee.
2. VOLUNTEER FOR THE PRESIDENT AND OUR TEAM. Four years ago the President lost a commanding lead on the weekend before the election because the Democrats and their liberal allies orchestrated a massive get-out-the-vote operation; it nearly cost him the election. Volunteer now for the Republican team's vital phone banking and door-to-door efforts. Click on www.GeorgeWBush.com/72hour or call 703-647-2842

ray,

dont know what debate you watched but theres no chance Bush won that debate as all the polls I have seen have indicated that Kerry was the winne in each of the polls. Your strike at Kerry are funny as each of your highlights is very misleading and you are not showing the comments Bush made about each of your topics"

1. Taxes
It has been shown through independent economic and taxation think tanks that Bush's tax cuts have vastly favored the upper income and by and large have not given the average working man whom punches a clock each day much of a break. Kerry is right the vast majority of small businesses in the US would never even feel his tax increase as less that 15% of small businesses in the US make a profit of over 200k. In reality the vast majority of small businesses have garned very little from Bush's tax cuts!

Health Care
Taking away choice is so misleading, this plan would act just like a PPO that the vast majority of americans have through their employers and yes you are limited to whom each plan has in their directory of providers but your choices are not severely limited. At least this is a start to get folks health care coverage, Bush gave no options that were actually obtainable for lower income folks to get coverage.

Environment
I dont think anyone has been able to deduce what Bush planned to do for the environment as he sounded like a moron with no clue and do you actually think the energy prices would go much more higher than when Bush has created?

Friviolus Lawsuits
Will never be eliminated it's a dead horse topic.

I dont see where his momentum is but if you believe he has momentum more power to you

I disagree MC on frivilous lawsuits. On federal level you may be correct because of Dems completely against it, despite what Kerry says---but on state level where where this is enough of conservative votes to pass it it has passed and been inacted and results is astounding and will leave an option that even most liberal staes will be forced to accept or lose all their doctors.

Case in point--Texas passed tort reform one year ago and this is results--

"Lawsuits against hospitals declined 70 percent in the first 10 months after Proposition 12 became effective, according to Perry. In the month prior to the new law some hospitals reported a 300-percent increase in lawsuits filed.

In another survey, the Texas Hospital Association reported Monday the state's 172 acute-care hospitals saw an average drop of about 8 percent in insurance rates this year. When expected 2005 rates were included, they reported a 17-percent decrease over the two years.

"Patients across the state have better access to healthcare services, and hospitals have more resources to invest in caring for their communities instead of defending themselves against frivolous lawsuits," said Richard Bettis, president of the hospital group.

In Harris County (Houston), there were 746 medical malpractice suits filed in the summer of 2003 before the new law. In the 11 months since, only 105 suits have been filed.

Healthcare Indemnity Inc., the largest policy writer in Texas for hospitals, has reduced rates by 20 percent."

entire article from Washington times.
http://washingtontimes.com/upi-breaking/20040824-024143-9648r.htm

Important aspect here--Note Harris County change from 746 to 105. I ask these Personal Injuries attorneys in their plight to make you believe they are looking out for little guy---did all these little people move out of that county in one year????
Just like the Vioxx deal--no sooner had they came out with report many class actions were filed--Now Kerrys constituents will reap the rewards with people getting little, then when they are forced to recoup their loses via price increase on other drugs the liberals will try and make you believe they are price gouging--when bottom line is everyone loses but the attorneys.

Huge advertisements in the paper today. Have you taken Vioxx? call our law firm TODAY! The ad also listed other drugs. Thats why we have a flu shot shortage today! The drug makers can't afford the insurance to keep the lawyers off their backs. Kerry backs the lawyers. In fact he has one for a running mate. Kerry, by the way, blames bush for the flu problem. Can you believe that? Kerry's plan is for the goverment pay for everything. That means tax rate increases for the small business owners who make the economy grow. These small business couldn't afford to hire people and grow if they don't have a tax break. Hell look around. Cities all over America are PAYING companies to open doors in their states so they can put their people to work. No tax incentives, no business opportunities, for the working class ..

In the case of Vioxx if someone died due to the use of a unsafe drug and this can be proven that this caused their death why should their family not be compensated? You cannot give companies a license to steal and injure the public!

ever hear of FDA??? What is there fuction? How many deaths do you think Vioxx has caused.Should companies quit research?

Whats the last drug you bought without a warning label on it.

My prob is not so much as company paying reasonble compensation to those "proven" to have serious damage but my prob is the vultures flying out of the trees.Do search for class action lawsuit and look what now leads top of list.
http://www.bigclassaction.com/
Look at the flashing questions
Have you suffered a stroke are heart attack.
Have you had "a loved one" (favorite PI phrase) who has died while using Vioxx.
If so click here a get evaluated free.

Do I have to spell it out for you or can you figure the higher the # of those claiming the higher awards to the vultures.

and while all these drive cost to comany and consumers who is the only one to profit?
BlockBuster class action recipients got $1 coupons /attorneys over 9 million
Illinois cellular Class action recpiients got coupons to buy future products----California class action against computer company, recpients got $13 coupons/attorneys 6 million.

ANYONE who can't see the picture here and goes along with it needs to have 20% inflation annually and have all their insurance premiums double yearly.

"Over the last decade class action lawsuits have grown over 1000%"
thats no typo ONE THOUSAND PERCENT

If you are an advocate of class action suits you may want to read this from classaction.org

You can't give companies a license to steal or kill. Millions of people take drugs and some have bad effects or even deaths from taking them. I feel they all should be paid, but cap it. I know this will strike a bad chord, but the twin tower deaths families not only received their loved one's insurance but Millions of Dollars from the State and airlines settling lawsuits. My father-in-law traveled for Shell oil many years ago.. He always said if he was killed on the job, sue them and get more money. Military dying in Iraq, their families only get a small amount plus their insurance if it pays. A lot of policies don't pay in combat or war. In my home town a class action lawsuit against our largest employer for polluting the air only on the south side where our Spanish and blacks lived cost the company millions of dollars and the people only collected $12.00 or so for the 3000 who claimed the air made them sick. People got on TV and said the lawyers lied to them and told them if they signed on they could get thousands. Trail lawyers cost the people of America plenty and it's getting out of hand.

Lawyers get a bad rap, there are some real ambulance chasers out there but there are many that really help others deal with and fight injustice. I agree that those who were hurt taking vioxx should get some compensation. They will sue the drug maker, and the doctors that prescribed it also as they were aware of possible side effects. This is a perfect example of why drugs from Cananda haven't been allowed into the US yet. The FDA has to make sure things are safe as possible. Drug makers within the US confines can be held accountable, in a foreign country it is much harder. Just because a drug may come from Cananda doesn't mean it was created there. Industry draws resources from all over the world before exporting to the US. I hope we can import drugs from Canada soon, think the cautious route chosen by Bush to do this in the right way so we can have as few a problems later.

You better have some good lawyers around now days. Remember most of your elected officials are just that. You need fire to fight fire. As for law suites. If doc's screw up and need a ass kicking give it to them. Maybe they will get better. Many times it's the same doc over and over. Does the hospital pull his license. No. Maybe they should. Anyway it's not what is driving our health care up 40% in just 3 years.

Let me ask you a question DJV If would you give up the right to sue anyone for anything and in return you could not be sued, would you

You will have pro and cons on this but it comes down basically to this. Those that have do not squat shitt relish the right to sue as they have no risk and everything to gain.

Those that have something to lose would gladly take option above for the most part.

The problem goes way beyond drug companies. When the public saw the HUGE amounts the attorneys won in tobacco cases, then every company was a target. Walmart gets sued daily, so does all the big companies. The attorneys proved if you could get it to the jury, you will win. The juries are uneducated people that believe most anything. Example is the tobacco lawsuits. AFTER the government made the companies put warnings on the packages, people still sued and won millions. Hugh amount of money has been awarded to car wreck victims. The state of Mississippi is the worst. Most companies settle out of court because they don't want to spend millions to defend the suits. Fall down at Walmart and they will give you 20,000 for not suing. Who pays for that? EVERYONE.

Believe the U S Gov still supports tobacco growers. They just passed a bill with millions in it for them.
Yes If I screw up sue me it's your right. If I do the same again, shoot me. I pay for my insurance for a reason. That's all types. And I dont see the big insurance companies going under.

Many people make a living growing tobacco they are called farmers--sure hate to see the gov trying to help anyone ekk out a profit at hard farm work--I know lets take it away from them or tax them so we can give it to the more deserving welfare folks ;)

By the way did any see the New York Times periodical interview with Kerry--did you see his remarks and take on gambling???????

and how many insurance companies would you like me to list that have went under. Fortunately it is set up where other companys buy the block of business so people do not lose their coverage--and if they're prudent they get out of adverse blocks of business--you know like the recent run away from medical malpractice insurance. Most the big boys refuse to write it at any cost and have pulled out of market.

You can criticize lawyers but in reality they serve a necessary purpose to defend people that have been misled or harmed by a corporation or a individual. Yes I agree with you on smokers getting outrageous settlements and I think its terrible but on the other hand if tobacco companies had been forthcoming and honest from the get go and declared just how damaging cig's were when they had the data then these people would not have a leg to stand on. The tobacco companies were dishonest and evasive about the data that they had nearly forty years ago that is why they should also be help accountable. Most of these people suing would of still smoked regardless of any warnings from the tobacco companies but they could of covered there a$$ by being upfront about the dangers. If we limit the amount of settlements someone can get from a corporation then what is to stop the corporation from producing harmful products? There must be a check and balance system in order to keep evil people from harming the general public, in a perfect world where everyone had the good of everyone else in their hearts we would not need lawsuits but we have evil people lurking that prey on the weak. Kenneth Lay is a perfect example, how many people lost money with this guys corruption? How many retired people had a bundle tied up in this stock and they were misled through fraudulent accounting on the health of this company, don't they deserve a right to seek damages from this corporation when they were misled, if they had known about what shape the company was in then more than likely they would have pulled their funds and at least saved some of their nest egg.

MC I can agree with you for the most part with one exception

"If we limit the amount of settlements someone can get from a corporation then what is to stop the corporation from producing harmful products?"

I think they should be punished but at what cost and to who. without going over some of these judgements I think you would agree many are EXTREMELY excessive--and consumers and workers are hit equally by their stock devalued-loss of jobs--and increase in future prices to recoup loss.

I think an arbitricion board would do the same with fair judgements especially in light of recipient getting all the award not 1/2. Also corporations that have faulty products don't last long in the market place--which is some deterent for intentional fraud.

and on the Kenneth Lays-- incararating people like him in general prisons would go a long way in punishment fitting crime--he could then see what it is like to pay "out the ass" like the people he robbed. Country club prisons are no deterent what so ever in fact I would say they are just the opposite.
