Spanking children can make them temporarily more compliant but causes more problems than it cures by raising the risk that they will become aggressive, anti-social and chronically defiant, research suggests.

Several researchers contest Dr Gershoff's conclusions. Robert Larzelere, a psychologist at the University of Nebraska, said the severity and context of the punishment were much more important than whether parents spanked their children. If reasoning and non-physical punishment - such as taking away desserts - did not work, a spanking could be beneficial, he said.

Gary and Anne Marie Ezzo are to address a rally in London organised by the Christian Education Europe publishing group on Saturday. They are expected to be met by protesters from health and children's rights groups.

is 87 years young and could outwit you to the
point of shame...she still sells her artwork....
Punishment???....my brother was seven years
older than me and we got in trouble one day..
I was about 6 and he was about 13...she took
one of those paddles that had a rubber band
attached to a ball minnus the rubber band and
ball and commensed to put a woopin on both of
us that left such an impression on us we NEVER
****ed up again....then in the sixth grade I
crossed the line and my sixth grade teacher who
was also the Principal of our grade school, caught
me and two other hellraisers missbehaving and we
went down to Mr. Wolf's office (big ass indian,
excuse me, Native American), grabbed our ankles,
took three licks with a paddle that had holes drilled
in it to STING LIKE A MO FO, and I never got in
trouble again....lasting impressions ARE lasting
IMPRESSIONS...especially when you can see the
dots on your red ass from the.............BOARD OF
DIRECTORS....we all know you sniff the pampered
life...but we also know it is'nt very fullfilling...just
look at your posts....
