Last week was very nice....not so much in the outright area, as we just missed with Kahne, but going against Junior was quite profitable. Hopefully we can keep it up this week.....however, I have noticed that my book (5Dimes) is getting a little sharper....so that just means that I have put in extra work, and put the hammer down this week, and make them think twice.
This week is interesting because there are a few cars that are annually very good at this track....Bobby Labonte, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and Dale Jarrett has been very good here in the past. Do not let this make your mind up 100%.....reason I say that is because I am not sold on Jeff Gordon. His average speeds in practice have been mediocre and on top of that his pit crew is one of the worst in the NASCAR circuit for a top notch driver. I never feel comfortable with him until the race is over.
Dale Jr. had his share of troubles last week, and I do not look for a total rebound performance this week. He has publically criticized Teresa Earnhardt for not spending the needed money to get this team where they need to be. Their 3rd car, John Andretti #1 does not have a sponsor and this has helped in the last with knowing the right setups to tracks.....so they feel like they are behind most multi- car operations.....and they are. His practice times have been mediocre and he will probably be a 15th place car today. His teammate, Waltrip is horrible at this track and I look for nothing better than 25th for him today.
The expected drivers to run up front all of today are Jimmie Johnson and Tony Stewart. Both have run very good practice times and both race very well on this type of racetrack. hendrick and Gibbs teams have run very well here in the past and I look for that to continue with these two.
I have 3 darkhorses that I look for strong performances from today, and 1 I have listed as the 4th favorite to win the whole damn thing!!
1.) Casey Mears. (Laugh now, but I am telling you right now that this car is great. He is off of his best career finish, 7th, last week, and is learning quickly. His car has consistanly been the best out there all weekend. If he can hold it together....he will be there at the end today.
2.) Joe Nemachek (Nemacheck has won this race before....and he has consistantly run wel here in the past and as well this weekend. Joe likes to go fast, and they dont get much faster than Atlanta.
3.) Dave Blaney (Blaney has run well here in the past....in fact last year was running in the Top 5 and his tire fell off, and he fell back.....but he is fast again this weekend and maybe he can finish the job
As for another guy that may outperform his norm is Jeff Burton.....he has not been good lately, but he may run up front today. He is the one that did the Atlanta testing for the Roush team, and will probably run as the second bet Roush car today.....
Here is what I am playing today.....Books beware, LOL
