Do these fuhkers need to have a drivers license to race? Are they even allowed on the real highways and biways of this great nation?

Now, I don't really watch this boring assed shit, but it was all over the sports pages and ESPN about how these rubes acted yesterday.

First off, if you are mad at someone for "driving over you", don't get out of your heap and throw your helmet at his car on his next lap around. You are an idiot! One of these dysfunctional bastards will get run over some day.....you mark my word.

Secondly, how smart is it to play "eye for an eye" at those speeds? Guys are deciding now, "If you took me out, I'm taking you out!" They come out of the pits and "hunt" the other guy, and put him into the wall? WTF!?

How long before one of these road rage ass gaskets kills someone while "dispensing some justice"? Or, you put the offender into the wall, and he ends up taking 2 or 3 more cars out?

Pretty soon these hillbillies will have shotgun racks in their rigs!

How you guys can watch this shit is beyond me.

I usually agree with most of your posts and they are usually pretty funny and this one wasn't bad, and I am not a NASCAR fan really but I certainly remember many profanity laced tirades from damn near all sports..........Lee Elia, Jim Fassel, Jim Mora, Mike Ditka, John Chaney just to name a few and they were much worse so I gotta go the other way on this one. That's racin'! From the 1/4 mile dirt/asphalt tracks all the way to the superspeedways. You have to protect yourself and your turf when you drive, and if that means bustin' a little ass, that's what it means!

I go to the races here at the local racetrack (www.beechbend.com), and on Friday night, there was one altercation in the pits. It happened when the 1 and 2 racers started getting fresh with each. 2 spun out the 1 (any spin out causes both drivers to be placed at the back of the field), then after 5 more laps, 1 spun out the 2. Their respective buddies and they then got into it in the pits, and the local sheriffs broke it up.

It's fine entertainment to not only watch the drivers but their fans and family in the stands who often get into it as well. Nothing much more funny than a 250 pound 'neck jumping out of his car and runnning across the track to try to whip another guy's ass.

This is how racing has always been at EVERY level, and it's how it's always going to be. I'm talking real racing here with stock cars, not the Indy/Formula 1 bs racing. The only racing is the kind where you can scrape the wall and trade paint and still be able to win. I can't stand watching races where any little bit of damage or wall contact means you are out for the duration.

yyz, for a real education into racing, I'm sure there are a few tracks within an hour of where you live. You should go watch the oval track action some Friday or Saturday night.

Your right toast......if I was on the sideline or in the pits I would except to hear this.......but I guess you missed my point, I was at home in my living room on a Sunday afternoon watching this with my 5 yr old on tv. Maybe we raise our kids alittle different.....best of luck too you.

I guess things are run different in different areas SIX FIVE. Up here in Maine we have a few short tracks with exciting "Racing". I work for a Media Company and we do a co-sponsership with a local track. I've had the pleasure to work side by side with the promoter (driver), be in the pits with the drivers, drive the pace car to start races and chat with the fans in the stands. This promoter has been in the business for over 40 years and growning up as a fan I have I had the pleasure of watching him race.

He refers to his racing card as the "Show" and each night before the races starts there is a drivers meeting to go over what is exceptable and whats not. He realizes that without the fans in the stands watching good hard nose racing the track would not surive. he will not allow cheating, fighting or any other nonsense from drivers or fans. He wants the younger kids at the track, he feels if he gets them there once he'll have um hooked for life (and its true) the last thing he'll except is the BS, ie swearing, fighting or anything that would promote a hostile "Family" enviroment.

As far as NASCAR goes, if they are going to allow all this extra WWF BS to continue you'll see presure from the sponsers (the ones with those cute little stickers on the race cars) who are getting presure from the fans (who by the way pay the bills for those cute little cars to race) to smarten up. These drivers need to realize that they are role models (and if they don't want that hanging over their shoulders go find another job), and paid very well for the job they do. The actions and words I saw on tv this weekend you wouldn't except from a gas station attendant, teacher or doctor..........why are we allowing it from entertainers.......

NASCAR is loving this. More promotion for the Chase that is missing its two biggest drivers. Dale jr. and Jeff Gordon.

I consider the wrecking each other etc.. about the same as getting in a fight in hockey, Charging the mound in baseball, fighting in football or a dirty hit, fighting in basketball. I would say all of those things are just as much WWF as what went on this weekend.

Look we are still talking about NASCAR after two monday night football games!

Yes we are still talking about it, but that doesnt make it a possitive for racing, the fans and the sponsers. I bet NASCAR would rather have people talking about what a great race it was rather than all the other BS that happened. End result is they promote this as a family sport, but the more BS that continues to happen the less likely families will attend..........and I doubt NASCAR wants that for its bottom line.

Dont get me wrong I enjoy all the drama, story lines and rivalies ect as much as anyone. But when atheletes put themselves above the sport, and run their mouths in front of a camera they need to go find something else to do. It's not like they can't find someone to take that persons place.

IMO every sport has its problems. I just don't think its fair to single out NASCAR. It is true, you have to be careful watching any live sporting event with children nowadays. You never know whats in store. While Watching golf two weeks ago, I was beraded with a rash of F-Bombs after a bad shot into the drink.

The track I speak of is a quarter mile too (Unity Raceway) Maine's Toughest Oval LOL, and what a RASH it is being behind the wheel of the pace care with 20 race cars bearing down your backside. Figure 8 racing is done from time to time (was huge in the past) the big thing now is "Race your neighbor" Anyone can get on the track (of age), they line up two cars and u race 2 laps, winner stays on. Usually there is 12-15 racers, cars, trucks new n old its a hoot.


I agree toast every sport does have its problem, remember I'm a Vik's fan, one word Moss, need I say more LOL.............I would just like be able and sit with my son, watch a race together and not have too explain why Billy Joe Smuck is throwing F-Bombs at Racing Ralph Over Paid Smith. I'll also add that there is always money involved in this hometown type of racing. If you stand to win 300 or 400 bucks and some idiot spins you out at the end of the race, that leads to hard feelings. 400 bucks is a mint to some of these guys.
