Cooler of course he cares else he wouldnt post the amounts. Generally Scott gets bashed for being a homer, which he is, but he also knows alot of football. Unfortunately the homerism overrides sometimes.

I didnt see even the worst Pac 10 bashers dispute that USC was one of the Top 2 teams in the country. (Except maybe BBK).

Ummmm.....that's where you are wrong.

As an objective mind on this subject, I have read many posts placing USC behind Auburn and Oklahoma.

Now it's obvious who is #1. USC came out with a point to prove (a la Miami's nat'l championship year after the year where they lost to UW during the regular season). Oklahoma just getting throttled by the Trojan juggernaut.

Pac-10 certainly was not a great conference this year, but their top four were pretty strong.

USC, obviously, is showing they are the best team in the country.

Cal, with at least McArthur healthy, is a Top 5 team regardless of what happened in the Texas Tech game. You can certainly, at the very least, 'counter' that fiasco with their performance at USC.

Arizona St was strong out of conference, as their dismantling of Iowa proved to be a very, very good win, along with beating Purdue with a good majority of their key players out.

And Oregon St I would certainly place in the Top 30 team in the country.

look on the bright side you have spring football coming and can use your "we're #2" tee shirts from last year!

Auburn will be hanging their hat on the number 2 ranking unless things turn around very quickly. Honestly if I had a vote Utah would be number three if I were to vote this minute.

Hoops I understand the offense issues for Cal - but they gave up 520 yards passing to a mediocre team - a top 5 team doesnt do that. Oregon State is hard to place - they beat nobody but also didnt lose to any bad teams. Top 30 is probably about right.

Sun- If the game was in the regular season and they didn't have 99% of their motivation sucked away from the game, I honestly and objectively doubt Texas Tech would have come remotely close to doing what they did to Cal's defense.

Take a look at what Cal's defense did the rest of the season (for the most part) and especially against this USC team at USC. The held USC's offense under 250 yards from scrimmage. NO team came close to doing to USC what Cal did on both sides of the ball.
