How come nobody is talking about this.

Gasol goaltended on the Alley to Courtney Lee.
He puts his hand through the basket and even on the rim.

Rulebook CLEARLY states this is goaltending.
Tough for ref to see, but even still. NOBODY IS EVEN TALKING ABOUT IT.

I believe it's not goaltending unless it causes the ball to take an unnatural bounce or unless it shakes the rim or backboard and causes the shot to be missed. At least that's what the announcer said immediately after it happened last night. Gasol touching the rim didn't affect the shot at all, Lee just missed.
Now, Dwight Howard should have been called for goaltending in the 1st quarter when he stuck his hand through the bottom of the rim and blocked Gasol's shot, but it wasn't called either.

from the rule book:

RULE NO. 11-BASKETBALL INTERFERENCE-GOALTENDING

c. For goaltending to occur, the ball, in the judgment of the official, must have a chance to score.

i. Vibrate the rim or backboard so as to cause the ball to make an unnatural bounce.

so goaltending did not occur, mainly because of C., the shot would have missed regardless

how about the fact that the lakers got every call/non-call the last 9 mins (4 in reg and 5 in ot) and it was pretty sickening.

read bill simmons article on espn.com about it.

ariza was allowed to hack and bump turkoulu every possession the last 9 mins.....kobe got 2 phantom calls (i'm shocked he didnt get ft with .6 left after a clean block) and the lakers miraculously swiped/stripped the ball away from howard-lee-tourkolu 4 times without ever hitting anybodys arm the last 9 mins?????

What about the Dwight Howard clear & obvious goal tend that was ignored where he blocked the ball through the rim??

The play on Lee was not goaltending.

What about all the phantom calls against pieutrus?
They wanted to make sure that he would not be around to gaurd kobe.

If I were a lakers fan that predicted a sweep or win in 5 I would rethink that....

Bench will be none exsistent on the road and orlando is the better defensive team......

Hopefully the lakers get a taste of their own home cooking of the refs.

The NBA is so obvious..

Reminds me of this years superbowl and how fixed that shit was.. Too much money to be made if the steelers won.

Bullshit calls against the az defence so they would tired at the end......

I think Orlando covering in a game two loss works against them. The lakers will beat the spread at least one of the next three games in Orlando,if not two. When they do are you sure they won't win that game outright? The spreadwill be 3-.Orlando will not cover all three in Orlando and be up 4-1 ATS going back to LA,its just not going to happen.Losing a tough one like game two when they expended such a fine mental effort will work against Orlando, not betting sweep or five games, but Orlando won't win the series,so whats the big accomplishment, looking good in a loss?

I agree with you that the shot had no chance of going in, but it is at least worth a mention.

Gasol puts hand on rim and the camera behind the basket even showed goal shaking from it somewhat. The ball then hits the rim after the rim grab. Even though the shot was way too hard it was still on the rim after a defender touched it.
I don't think Rule C was put in for a shot that close, but more for air ball type and not one that actually gets a good chunck of the rim.

I do agree with the no call, but do you think the ref even saw it or would have called it had the shot been closer and missed.
I doubt it.

Always the refs when its a team you dont like or lose a bet.

The refs didnt want Pietrus around to guard Kobe, come on that sounds pathetic.

What would you guys do if you actually didnt have the refs to blame for everything.

Surely the refs & the NBA handed the Lakers the #1 seed in the West, got them through 2 rounds & 2 games so far. Without that the Lakers would be a .500 ball club on the fringe of the playoffs right?

Funny thing is if Orlando wins tonight it will have nothing to do with the refs. They are simply the better team right? :mj07:
