What was the purpose of imposing this rule? It states something of the sort that you must be out of highschool for a minimum of 1 yr before being eligible to be drafted or employeed by the NBA.....does 1 yr of college or any other league play make that much a difference for an athelete. And I thought about this next question for awhile and couldnt find an answer or a person to fill the void, I am no NBA historian or intellectual, but I tried to find a player that was drafted directly out of highschool that was white, FROM the US and I couldnt think of one. Have I over looked anyone? Its not an issue but a buddy of mines mentioned it through out a discussion and I thought to myself no way, but I let the debate go on witout chiming in because I honestly couldnt think of one.

can't think of one either

You think the rule is racist?

actually I just thought the rule was all about maturity....my buddy jumped in with the arguement of it only affects certain groups, and stated 1 yr really makes no difference. So NO I dont think its race motivated but I tried to find an example of why it isnt and could only think of foreign player.
And sixfive----Im GLAD HE DIDNT MAKE HISTORY AS WELL:mj07:
If we cant find out a player, can we make any strong arguements for a player that WAS or able to but choose college for a year or 2 then dominated at the next level? Who would of been the closest thing or had the most consideration coming out of highschool if we had t make that arguement?

If it is supposedly racist, why would it matter what country they are from?

Jason Williams from Florida wanted to come out of high school I think  and then did go into the draft early, didn't he? He didn't have a great pro career, but he was a good player. Check that; I think he graduated high school before this rule.

I can't think of anybody else? Who's the best white domestic player now anyway?? Kirk Hinrich?? Was there even a white domestic player on the all star team?? kurby

Dawg for arguements sake, he says it is and Im trying to back him off that stance, but I cannot find an American born player.....he says Germany, Lithuania and so forth dont count. So I was trying to stick it to him....I personally dont give a rats ass.

EXACTLY the 2 guys that came to mind for me....and I must admit, Bobby Hurley with a close 3rd.

Jason Williams "White Chocolate"-----Originally committing to Providence College during high school, Williams changed his college choice to Marshall University after PC coach Rick Barnes left for Clemson.

After redshirting his first season, he averaged 13.4 ppg and 6.4 apg in his freshman year (1995?96) at Marshall University.

When coach Billy Donovan accepted the head coaching position at the University of Florida in the summer of 1996, Williams followed him, playing as the starting point guard during the 1997?98 season. He averaged 17.1 points per game as well as 6.7 assists per game. Williams set a University of Florida record with 17 assists in a December 3, 1997 game against Duquesne. Later that season, the University of Florida permanently suspended Williams for drug use after three previous suspensions. When asked what he liked most about his time in college, Williams replied, "I cherished getting kicked out of school."

and Kevin Love--we know all about.
