I will say right now it's quite clear that your knowledge of the beautiful game is vastly superior to mine, but I shall share my limited insight.
Villa haven't won a game in the last 5 for all competitions, would now be the best time to back them? Carew is the only striker scoring for Villa lately and the strength and height of Skrtel and Carragher should negate that.
Additionally, Villa play a counter-attacking style on the road, which will be very dangerous tomorrow when you consider the attacking options Liverpool have. Alonso should be back from injury which will highly help their distribution. Also, they may find it hard to win the midfield seeing how Liverpool play with 5 in MF while Villa will only have 4.

No one's knowledge is superior - the differences that lie in perception is key b/c the aggregate makes for a full 360 vantage point as opposed to a keyhole perspective looking out.
The points that you've furnished are solid - really (and I'm not patronizing here); if Villa don't win outright, do you think a draw is feasible? It's what's plagued the Reds (and Arsenal and Chelsea) all year in that they've dropped points to inferior competition instead of picking up the full 3?
The part of betting on football that lends hesitation personally is the prospect of a draw. And when I referred to an upset by Villa @ Anfield, I'm including a draw b/c that doesn't narrow the gap b/w Liverpool and United to just 1 point (w/ Man U having a game in hand).
Like almost everyone else, there's an latent action junkie in me - and I'm tempted to place a wage just to feel part of it all. But losing bankrolls in the past have wizened me to picking spots - I guess I'm saying I would rather ride this out and watch as an interested spectator w/ no fiscal liability on the line.
By the way, I noted you said you weren't confident about your capping - I think you ought to write more, to be honest - it's far more enriching for everyone including the author to flesh out ideas, notions, etc. - some may be more valid than others on different days, but there's nothing that isn't of value... Just a thought...
