bowling green (+18) over florida state
bowling green was decimated by injuries, suspensions, and eligibility issues to start the season.
this is the first game where they've got their full team available, and they're catching a very generous number.
their best player (steven wright) is finally back from an ankle injury that he suffered over the summer.
today also marks the first game that freshman brian moten is eligible. he averaged nearly 30 in high school, and then 35 ppg in his one year of prep school before coming to bg. it's a new ball game at the d-1 level and especially against an acc team, but the coaches really think this kid can help them. he was a non-qualifier the fall semester but became eligible a few days ago.
leading scorer martin samarco was suspended in bg's last game against little rock for a violating a team rule but he'll be back tonight.
will it all come together in one night? who knows. bowling green could get blown out. but it wouldnt be a huge shock if they stayed within single digits either. its almost impossible to justify fsu as a huge chalk on a neutral court. and you can throw the bg stats/numbers out the window up to this point because having wright back cant be overstated and moten should provide some much-needed scoring.
if nothing else, keep an eye on bg in the coming weeks. they should be much better.
gut feeling is that it starts tonight with a good effort against fsu, so taking a shot and grabbing the 18.
