WOW Joe, I am still looking at the game and know the Akron program quite well but they are a hard team to pinpoint! No doubt the Zips have the better offense as they have a QB that is more than likely a second round NFL draft pick whereas CFU has perhaps the worst QB situation in Division 1 football but then again the Zips defense is pathetic. Historically the Zips have got smoked when they went to FLA but they did win on the road against Kent (keep in mind that it was about a 10 mile road trip)

Today's top story ... Alabama's top RB out for the year
Senior starting RB Ray Hudson is lost for the remainder of the season after an MRI revealed a fractured right knee; Hudson, who had surgery on Tuesday, suffered the injury on a third-quarter play in last weekend’s victory over Kentucky; Sophomore Ken Darby will get the start at RB for Saturday’s game against Southern Miss

ACC

Duke
The Devils’ ground game may get a boost, as junior starting RB Cedric Dargan is expected to return to action this Saturday against Georgia Tech; Dargan has been sidelined with a knee injury and hasn’t played since the Sept. 4 opener

Florida State
Sophomore Wyatt Sexton will remain the team’s starting QB for its Saturday night game versus Virginia, but senior Chris Rix (ankle) has returned for his first full week of practice since suffering his injury, and could be used off of the bench … Junior starting DT Brodrick Bunkley (ankle) and senior starting WR/PR Willie Reid (hamstring) are back at practice after missing last week’s game at Syracuse; Both are expected to play against Virginia … Junior top backup TE Matt Henshaw, however, is doubtful for Saturday’s game due to a high ankle sprain

Maryland
Head coach Ralph Friedgen announced that sophomore Joel Statham would remain the Terps’ starting QB, as the team prepares for its game with N.C. State this weekend; Friedgen indicated, however, that true freshman Jordan Steffy could also see playing time in Saturday’s game

Miami, Fla.
The Canes could have as many as four new starters for tomorrow night’s game against Louisville; Junior Rashad Butler will start at LT due to the season-ending injury to junior Eric Winston, redshirt freshman LB Glenn Cook, who normally plays on the strongside, could make his first start at MLB, true freshman Lance Leggett will start at WR for the injured Sinorice Moss (hamstring), and true freshman Anthony Reddick will be the likely starter at FS because of sophomore Brandon Meriweather’s turf toe injury … Senior starting C Joel Rodriguez (hamstring) returned to practice on Tuesday and will start tomorrow night’s game … Head coach Larry Coker indicated that redshirt freshman QB Kyle Wright could see more snaps in tomorrow night’s game, regardless of senior Brock Berlin’s performance

North Carolina
The University has issued indefinite suspensions for sophomore starting LB Fred Sparkman, sophomore top backup WR Adarius Bowman, and sophomore top backup DL Isaiah Thomas, after each player was cited for misdemeanor possession of marijuana; Athletics director Dick Baddour indicated that the suspensions could last for the remainder of the season

Virginia
Sophomore starting FB Jason Snelling will miss Saturday night’s tilt with conference rival Florida State; Snelling injured his ankle during last Thursday’s game against Clemson; Fifth-year senior Brandon Isaiah will get the start and be backed-up by true freshman Kevin Bradley

Big XII

Oklahoma
Senior starting CB and PR specialist Antonio Perkins will miss 3-4 weeks after spraining the MCL in his left knee during last weekend’s win over Texas; Perkins will be replaced by junior Chijioke Onyenegecha

Big East

Pittsburgh
Ongoing injury problems for senior starting FB Tim Murphy and senior top backup FB Justin Acierno may result in an increased role for senior starting RB Ray Kirkley in Saturday’s home game versus Boston College; Kirkley played a few snaps at FB during last weekend’s game against Temple, but his role, at FB, may increase with Murphy and Acierno questionable for Saturday; If Kirkley plays FB, the RB duties would go to either senior Marcus Furman or freshman Brandon Mason

Independents

Notre Dame
Despite a concussion suffered in last weekend’s win over Stanford, sophomore starting QB Brady Quinn is expected to start Saturday’s game versus Navy

Pac-10

Arizona
Junior backup QB/WR Nic Costa has left the team, according to head coach Mike Stoops; Costa, who was made the move to WR during fall camp but moved back to QB last month, becomes the second QB to leave the team (sophomore Ryan O’Hara withdrew from school to help take care of his younger brother, who received a kidney transplant in September); Stoops did not provide a reason for Costa’s departure

California
Results from an MRI revealed that a torn ACL will sideline fifth-year senior starting WR Chase Lyman for the remainder of the season, and will likely end his collegiate career; Lyman suffered the injury during Saturday’s loss at USC; Either Burk Toler or Jonathan Makonnen, both seniors, is expected to fill the starting WR void …

Southern California
After losing starting WR Steve Smith (broken leg) for the rest of the season, the Trojans may give sophomore standout Reggie Bush more looks at the WR position … Junior starting safety Scott Ware will likely be sidelined for two weeks due to a stress fracture in his left foot

SEC

Ole Miss
Sophomore Ethan Flatt, junior Michael Spurlock, and redshirt freshman Robert Lane all played a significant amount of snaps during the Rebs’ win at South Carolina last weekend, and head coach David Cutcliffe indicated that he would use all three again in Saturday night’s home game versus Tennessee

Season 59-41
Week 0-0
Halftimes 2-1
Last Week 10-10

Going to take WVU-6 tonight against the Huskies, my reasoning is that although WVU pretty much tanked any National Title hopes in the loss to Va Tech they still have a chance to be a top 8 team when the season comes to an end. WVU completely outclasses the Huskies in the amount of speed and athletes that they have on their team and this will be only the second time that the Huskies have stepped-up in class to play a opponent this year, the previous time was against BC and they did not fare well. WVU's defense is better than BC with much more speed in the secondary so the Huskies should have trouble moving the ball tonight. On the other hand, I do expect their to be a drop off in the running attack for the Neers tonight so they will have to get the passing game working early to keep the offense moving and hit a few big plays to stretch the defense. Uconn has the 12th best defense in the country but IMO those numbers are slightly deceiving as almost all of their opponents have less than average offenses and the case could be made that the best offense they have faced all year was Army. It would not surprise me to see WVU behind at half time in this game as UCONN should come out stoked but come the second half the physical nature of the Neer's lines should begin to take a toll on the Huskies and I envision a WVU win of 27-17.

Good Luck Cappers!!!!

Passing on tonights play dont like that Louisville has played a weak schedule up to this point and that they have not won in the state of FLorida since the days when Lee Corso was head coach for the Cards. Then again I cant put my money on Brock Berlin with the number sitting above 7. Opinion on under 44!

Today's top story ... Colorado changes starting QB
Head coach Gary Barnett announced that sophomore QB James Cox would get the start this Saturday in favor of junior Joel Klatt, who sustained a strained neck in last weekend?s home loss to Oklahoma State; Klatt has been able to practice this week, but Barnett stated that the decision to start Cox is not health-related, but rather ?the best decision for our football team? ? Senior starting TB Bobby Purify is expected to return to his starting role for Saturday?s game versus Iowa State ? Junior starting safety J.J. Billingsley is done for the season after further damage was found in his left knee

ACC

Virginia Tech
Sophomore starting DE Noland Burchette will miss Saturday?s home game versus Florida A&M due to a right shoulder separation; Burchette is expected to be healthy for Tech?s Oct. 28 Thursday night conference game at Georgia Tech; In Burchette?s absence, senior Jim Davis moves from DT to DE, and redshirt freshman Carlton Powell makes his first career start at DT

Big Ten

Illinois
Sophomore starting RB E.B. Halsey, who has missed time due to a strained left knee, may be back in action for Saturday?s game versus Michigan; Halsey was unable to practice earlier in the week, but returned to the practice field on Wednesday; His status has improved dramatically and he could possibly play this weekend ? Click here for more on this story

Pac-10

UCLA
Senior starting WR Craig Bragg returned to practice this week, but will remain sidelined for another week; Bragg, who has missed the last two games due to a shoulder injury, plans to return next weekend versus Arizona State

Washington
The hits keep coming for the Huskies, as senior starting OT Khalif Barnes is likely lost for the rest of the season with a broken wrist, which will require surgery; Barnes suffered the injury during Tuesday?s practice, but kept practicing and did not discover the severity of the injury until Wednesday; Senior Ryan Brooks will fill the void on the O-line

SEC

Florida
Head coach Ron Zook gives his account of the frat party story, which involves himself, several of his players, some fraternity members, and an alleged F-bomb; Athletics Director Jeremy Foley is not happy about the entire incident

Georgia
Senior strongside LB Arnold Harrison has been cleared to play in Saturday?s game versus Vanderbilt after having missed three starts due to a pinched nerve in his left shoulder; Junior Derrick White will once again get the start, but Harrison is expected to get some snaps ? ? The Dawgs will shuffle some bodies on the O-line this weekend; Sophomore OG Fernando Velasco will start Saturday?s game in place of sophomore Nick Jones, who is out with an ankle injury; Sophomore Ken Shackelford is a possible starter for Dennis Roland, who has also been bothered by an ankle injury and has been unable to practice this week

Tennessee
Junior starting RG Cody Douglas will likely miss Saturday night?s game at Ole Miss, due to a foot sprain, which has forced him to use crutches and a walking boot this week; Sophomore Arron Sears is expected to start in Douglas? O-line spot this weekend ? Senior starting LT Michael Munoz, who left the game last weekend with a bruised knee, was able to practice on Wednesday and is expected to start against the Rebels

Today's top story ... Kansas State's Meier to start
Sophomore QB Dylan Meier, who did not start last week’s game against Kansas due to an injury, will be back at the helm for Saturday’s game against Oklahoma. Meier’s injury has not been officially disclosed, but it is likely a shoulder injury suffered during the season-opener versus Western Kentucky

ACC

Wake Forest
The Deacs will have a new face handling the kickoffs and field goal attempts, after it was learned that junior Matt Wisnosky was lost for the year with a torn ACL, which he suffered during last week’s loss to Virginia Tech; Fellow junior Ryan Plackemeier will now handle those duties, as well as the punting chores

Big XII

Nebraska
True freshman LB Michael Keenan, who was one of the most highly touted LB recruits last February, has been rumored to be transferring from the program after having missed last week’s game and practice this week; Keenan, however, denied those rumors and indicated that he is dealing with some “personal issues”, and will discuss his situation/future with head coach Bill Callahan

Mountain West

San Diego State
The O-line woes continue for the Aztecs, as junior starting RT Chris Pino becomes the latest injury issue after suffering a concussion in last weekend’s loss at Wyoming; At the moment, Pino is very questionable for tomorrow’s home game versus Colorado State, and redshirt freshman Will Robinson may have to start in his place, which would leave the team without a backup scholarship player on the O-line … Redshirt freshman OG Brandyn Dombrowski, who has missed most of the season with ankle injuries, returned to practice this week, but isn’t expected to play in tomorrow night’s game

Pac-10

Southern California
Senior WR Jason Mitchell has earned the No. 3 receiver job for tomorrow’s showdown with Arizona State; Mitchell will help to fill some of the void left by Steve Smith, who suffered a broken leg in last week’s game; Mitchell will be the first option behind starters Dwayne Jarrett and Chris McFoy, and, in addition to Reggie Bush’s increased role at WR, will get snaps during the Trojans’ multiple WR sets

SEC

LSU
JUCO transfer D-lineman Claude Wroten, who has spent most of the season at DT, was granted the start at DE during last week’s come-from-behind victory at Florida, and may see much more time at DE during the remainder of the season; He replaces junior DE Melvin Oliver … Senior star CB Corey Webster (strained posterior cruciate ligament) has remained out of practice this week, but will have some extra time to heal the injury during the Tigers’ bye week; LSU’s next game is Oct. 23 versus Troy

WASH STATE SERIES: 2-10 L12 / 0-4 L4 home ? 1-7 second BB home when playing con opp

Quick question to the MASTER CAPPPER EMPERIOR:

Why do I see no reall talk about the Stanford +1 O/U 48.5

Stanford should win by a touchdown? But no talk is started me looking.

Hail to the Victor

According to Greg Roberts a well known capper on his radio show today Wazzou's defense is beginning to feel the effects of being on the field for over 60% of the teams snaps this year and he believes that Stanford will win this game by over ten points. Pullman has historically been a tough place to win at vor visitors so I think alot of folks shy away from playing against Wazzou when they are at home. I do not have my final plays done at this point but this game is not one of the stronger plays that I am looking at but that could change.

Although these teams have not played much in the past few years two strong trends favor Toledo and both trends hover around 70%.

Rushing Dogs Plays (UNC and UVA would also qualify as rushing dog plays)

Navy+7
Arkansas +13
CMU+21

Illinois +19.5
Duke+20.5
Memphis-23 (ouch alot of chalk)

My early plays are not looking so good,

Illinois- Should be up by 10 as they blew a earlier scoring opportunity

Already counted the Midshipmen as a loser.

Duke-Got a late TD but Tech is moving the ball at will on them this could get ugly.

Toledo-Im watching this game, the offense looks terrible, I would have to say this is the worst that I have seen the Rockets offense look in awhile. Thank god for the Rockets defense although they allowed Ohio to drive for a field goal late in the 1st half. I am hoping that the Rockets start stretching the defense with some long strikes early in the 2nd half.

MC - I hope you are right. I just played Toledo -6.5 2nd half. Hoping they open it up a bit. I need this one too - Minnesota is screwing me. Thought they would come out focused after the loss last week and not wanting the same thing happen as last year (Loss to State the week after the loss to UM). I wonder about Mason sometimes.

Good Luck to Us :)
