not that i'm superstitious or anything, but when my tailspin began at the beginning of the conference tournaments, i decided to take a break from posting. sadly, it didn't help. (side note... have you even known a gambler who wasn't superstitious?) i'm still ice cold. but, knock on wood (there's that superstition again), i normally do well in the first round of the tourney, before crapping the bed the rest of the way. so here goes...
ODU (+1.5) 1 unit. hard to believe, after the start to the season butler had, they they'd lose in the first round. but i think that's exactly what's going to happen. ODU has the talent and the experience to win this game. the top of the colonial has some talent, as the country found out last year with george mason.
davidson (+7.5) 1 unit. you can beat davidson by slowing down the game. but i don't see maryland doing that. especially with a freshman point guard. the wildcats will get the tempo they want, and this game should come right down to the wire.
michigan state (-2) 1 unit. with mcneil out and james still not shooting straight, it's hard to see where marquette will get any points. michigan state is not as talented as they've been in recent years, but neitzel has had a great year, and they have enough to win this game.
stanford (+5.5) 1 unit. maybe this is backlash against everybody picking louisville to advance a few rounds in the tournament. stanford is not great, and maybe shouldn't even be here. but i think the pac 10 was better than the big east this year, and louisville is not that good. the twins should clog up the middle enough to make louisville shoot from the outside, and louisville only made 33% of their 3-pointers this year. not a great number for a rick pitino team.
texas a&m (-13) 1 unit. unlike a lot of major conference teams, a&m will guard you for 35 seconds. i don't think the slow tempo will hurt them that much. and this is not a very good penn team.
oral roberts (+6.5) 1 unit. wazzou seems to have lost a little bit of the spark they had earlier in the pac 10 schedule. caleb green can flat out play, and i wouldn't be shocked at an outright upset here. besides, how many times can you yell "C'MON, ORAL!!!" in a bar without getting thrown out? tomorrow will be one such day.
