going to make a point to keep a continuos record going. 5-3 last week, counting the ml play on fau. since I only play ml dogs im going to count everything together and not try to track the money. most old timers know that the u is an alma mater of mine as well as the wolfpack, but for tonight im committing the sacrilege and going with the owls again.
fau +18-: this game will be a big deal in boca raton. this is the first time that Miami, or any team of their stature has played at fau. howard schellenberger, the old Miami coach from the early 80"s, has been running the football program at fau since the late 90's. howard's career in ncaa football is mythical, from the Miami's national championship to recruiting joe Namath to play for alabama while on bear Bryant's staff. well, of late schellenburger has been dedicated to bringing fau up to national standards, and he has lobbied long and hard to get the 'canes to play in boca. tonight is the culmination of those efforts. ol' coach will be in attendance, and the players will be ready for this game.
this line is probably more reflective of last year, when the 'canes won in Miami 34-6 as a 31 pt favorite. However, this year Miami is down a bit and fau is better than last year imo. owls have been a darling of mine the last few years as an overperforming dog. tough loss in Tulsa last week for the owls, but probably a little look-ahead involved. last week Miami toyed with div iii Bethune cookman, and have Nebraska on tap next week.
schellenburger got the 30k seat geo group stadium built about four years ago - as best I know the only stadium named after a private prison co (they're based in boca raton and their ceo is an alum). tonight will be the first time it has been sold out.
