wake forest (+125) over st.josephs
oklahoma/pittsburgh under 127.5

*got a good feel for this wake program from various angles. if i could analyze this game in one sentence, it would be this: wake forest is a st.joes clone, but with size on the inside. st.joes normally has a huge edge at the guard spots in their games. this wont be one of them. paul gets all the hype for being a stud freshman, but when it comes to making big shots, justin gray is bigtime. the guard battles will be awesome to watch tonight, but wake has a huge advantage inside. i just cant see joes having an answer for eric williams. he may not score a ton tonight, but i think that he will score when he wants, and when wake needs a big basket. gotta give the defensive edge to st.joes. its no contest there. but i think wake's size causes too many problems tonight

*cant see this osu/pitt game cracking 120-122. if it does, it will mean pittsburgh lost by more than just a few baskets. both these defenses are incredible. the way they defend the 3pt line. the way they close out shooters. the way the play physical. both these teams are solid defensively. pitt obviously doesnt have as much firepower, but they dont care if they win 47-44 or 55-50 if need be. theyre not an aesthetic marvel. i cant back either side in this game because i think its gonna be a coinflip. but i do feel this one will be played in the 50s. and i think it can still be an entertaining game

want to play notre dame/oregon over the total as well but tired of oregon jamming me on totals. so ill pass. but i can assure everyone that since im backing off them, the over will come in with ease

$0.05 non-refundable opinions on alabama and uconn as well

Pittsburgh, Pa.
gman,

I have to think the Pitt total is a bit suspicious.

Pitt / Wisky opening total was 10 pts. lower.

Don't know fer sure, but I think many bettors (including moi) took "over" 117 in Pitt / Wisky. The books said "Thanks" and ole buddy boy tore up another ticket.

Now, after a game that goes under 117, this one opens @ 127'?

I kinda' like it over.

buddy- just from a purely statistically perspective

wisconsin total was 10 points lower (117/127)

wisconsin avg = 68ppg
ok. state avg = 78 ppg

so i dont see the number as being "off", i just think the game will be a grinder. we'll see. as always, gl

"the bunker"
after watching

after watching

the pitt/okie st first half,i`m getting a vibe about pitt...they are confusing the hell out of a damn good okie st team...they`re ugly as hell...they look slow.....but,they seem to have that indefinable something going for them...

they are playing that ugly, physical defensive game they like and they are playing it well...

i may jump back in this thing and throw a few ducats at pitt from here on out(if they get past okie st)....

i have more respect for these clubs than anybody left in this tourney...

i think pitt has an excellent shot at the whole thing if they win here...

gardenweasel:
as a ravens fan, im sure you can respect the panthers no-offense-but-incredible-defense style, lol. by the way- im hearing rumblings around here of northcutt to the ravens in a trade

side note:
someone shoot me if i try to play another oregon game this season. this team has gotta be the most inconsistent team in the world, and often theyre inconsistent within the same GAME

45 2h points with 10:00 to go.
2h finishes with 62 points

17 points in the final 10:00.

I bumped the thread up multiple times, and you had multiple weeks to contact Mjalam. You are lucky you didnt make that bet, because it was a big fat loser. Do you still think Gonzaga is better? Because if you do, you are more stubborn than I would have ever imagined.

All the ripping by everyone on this board and all the moron experts on TV and they shoved it right up your rear tonight. I never like to see anyone lose, especially a guy like Gman, who I seriously do respect, but the bashing StJoes got this year was one of the most ridiculous undeserved things I have ever seen.

Regardless of what happens on Saturday, Joes has proven they belong with the elite this year. Coupled with Xavier's performance, its safe to say the A10 was underrated. The ACC, on the other hand, was horribly overrated. Guess we aren't going to see 4 ACC teams in the final four. But of course, Joes would finish 8th in that league, they certainly cannot compete.

bombs:

seems like youre goin a little over the top here. i dont feel the need to defend my stance because i was never one of the constant st.joes bashers.

as for the a-10 being underrated, that could be the most absurd thing that you have ever said. st.joes was dynamite, and xavier caught lightning in a bottle, but the rest of those teams are abysmal. how could you say the a-10 is underrated? ill give the benefit of the doubt because i think youre defending st.joes more than the conference. but to defend the conference is preposterous.

as for st.joes in the acc, they probably would have finished 3rd or 4th. nothing wrong with that.

to answer your question of whether or not i think gonzaga is better- thats a question that to you will only have one right answer. but yes, i still think gonzaga is a better team. point being that you cant say the teams left in the tourney are better than kentucky and stanford. its all subjective opinion. doesnt matter now. and gonzaga would finish no better than 3rd or 4th in the acc as well. their inside game would serve them well in that league and nobody would handle turiaf. but the athletes on the perimeter would be where they get taken apart

Comments were only half directed at you, more at the others who bashed Joes with reckless abandon. Good luck the rest of the tourney and in the future - I always look at your picks, they are probably the best on here.
