NCAA Tourney First round thread

Absolutely my two favorite days in sports are thursday and friday of this coming week. I will go at this thread from two different points ov view. For those who want to know how I filled my bracket out and more importantly who i bet and why.

So far i played
Wichita over Seton hall. I strongly believe wichita at 1.5 is a good bet. I dont like how Seton hall finished up And i favor Wichita by 7.5. I think this line will go up. Seton hall had to figure they needed to at least beat Ruptures to get in, and they shit the bed. The committee gave them a gift but I have no cofidence in them to show up here.

Wichita -1.5 Big

Winthrop +8.5 over tennesse. I like the points here but I will wait for a couple more!!



Duke -25.5 over Southern.
I hat Duke love to root against them but my tournament system has them winning by 44!!
I'll take my chances

I was waiting to see who Winthrop drew in this tourney...i like this team..No one is giving them a chance here which is a mistake....they played tough at memphis...lost at South Carolina ( a game they played gamecocks tough in second half)...and beat Marquette at Marquette...which is no easy task..(ask Big East teams )....I found it funny reading about the brackets that two well known websites giving thier analyses about Winthrop had them losing that Marquette game (which of course they won)..Point being that I hope that line of thought continues throughout the week and brings the line up even higher..im not saying they win outright but i think they have very ..very good shot at covering the number in this one...

if paulus and mcroberts keep playing well duke will be a tough out. dockery hurt his hand a few weeks ago and it has not healed. many times this year he was that third scorer that a team needs to take pressure off of the other star players. i still would have to give the nod to uconn unless bc can take them out

...why the big love for bucknell??? ...and why is no one giving Memphis any love? What more could memphis have done? Their only losses were to Texas and Duke...and a road loss to UAB, which was paid back by beating them 9 days later in the Conf USA champ game....

Styles make games. I think this Memphis team is the kind that overachieved all year to get here. My preaseason ranking of them was not nearly final four caliber. ( I had them about 25 in the country). It has been my experience over the years since I have been making my power numbers that a team has to be in certain range to make the final four. If a one or a 2 seed is not in that range they normally make a quick exit.
Memphis and Tennessee fit that model.

As for being high on Bucknell. I am.
They beat Kansas last year. Have the same team back, and play the smartest ball of any team in the tourney.

Well looks like a lot of sharp money sided with the dumb clem money and bet Winthrop down. To 7. I should have jumped at the 8.5.

Now I got to buy the points.

I like Bucknell to make it to second round this year, though as a KU fan I will hate them forever.
But I really hope and predict Memphis skates through this conference. Everyone is dogging on memphis but they are very very good and have given teams more than they could handle al year. Only reason people dont give them respect is CUSA
