couple of games I'm looking at...
Michigan +3
Michigan a home dog? Not your everyday occurence. Michigan is 14-6 ATS in their last 20 games as a dog. Michigan is 24-1 SU in their last 25 Big 10 openers. Michigan has owned Penn State winning the last 8 matchups. Penn State is only 6-12-1 ATS their last 19 road games. Penn State is 8-15 SU! in their last 23 games on the road. Penn State was outgained last week @ home against Buffalo. I think Michigan rights the ship a little bit by winning this game straight up and making a run at the Big 10 title in an attempt to salvage their season. I also don't think Morelli has the talent or the stones to get it done in the Big House. And finally, Michigan a home dog? I'll take my chances that they haven't turned the page on their season just yet.
Notre Dame +13
ND really sucks. This is more of a play against Michigan State laying close to 2 touchdowns on the road. Yeah, Michigan State kind of has the Irish's number over the past few years but Notre Dame is going to figure it out eventually? Well, maybe not, but I think they can hang w/ Michigan State here. Michigan State struggled quite a bit last week against Pitt and benefited from +3 turnovers, including a INT returned for a TD in a 4 point win. Jimmy Clausen has to be getting a better grasp on things now in his third start and his first home start. After playing on the road in two of the most hostile college football environments against Michigan and Penn State, I'm sure he will appreciate being back in the friendly confines. Plus, I think this is the weakest defense Clausen has seen all year so that can't hurt. Michigan State is awful at covering the number as a favorite. Over the last 7 years, Michigan State is just 14-29 ATS as a favorite. Over the last 7 years, Michigan State is 3-9 ATS as a road favorite. The Spartans are 2-9-1 ATS in the last 12 games. They are 2-6 SU in their last 8 road games. Now, the Irish are battle tested having played Michigan, Penn State and Georgia Tech already. Michigan State hasn't played anyone and this is their first road game of the year with a new QB calling the shots. ND has got to be a hungry team right now and I think triple-chin Charlie (speaking of hungry) can simplify the offense enough to allow Clausen to be more effective than he has been.
