Season Record 21-24 -5.2 units
Favorites 15-17 ?3.5 units
Dogs 5-6 -1.6 units
Totals 1-1 -0.1 units

Penn State +2 2 units
Penn State has been a home dog 5 times since 2000 and has gone 3-2 in that role. It doesn?t really say much as the event has only happened 5 times, but the teams that came into State College as favorites says a lot. Purdue (2000 - This was when PSU was 1-4 SU & ATS), Miami (2001), Michigan (2001), Ohio State (2001) and Nebraska(2002 ? Before the meltdown was known). Minnesota plays their 4 usual powder puffs and now goes to Penn State as a favorite. Minnesota has come out of their Big 10 opener a loser 4 out of the last 5 years with their only victory against N?Western. An excerpt from Mason?s press conference tells why they?re always so unprepared in Big 10 play

"Well, we?ve got the ability to open things up. I don?t know if I anticipate it or not. I didn?t anticipate it against our first four opponents; it?s just kind of how things went during the game. Let?s face it, if you can?t stop the run, we?re probably going to just run. That?s okay with me. I think it?s a thing of beauty, I don?t think it?s boring. But I?m also realistic to know that the people that we face come Saturday, I don?t think we?ll be able to do those things.?

They never have an effective plan for when the run doesn?t work and the linemen that their recruiting produces doesn?t allow them to run in the Big 10. Penn State hasn?t played well, but I think they have the knowledge of playing in tight football games and have seen adversity this year and will know how to play in a close game. I don?t think Minnesota has a clue.

Arkansas -1 2 units
Bama lost both lines of scrimmage to the Huskies last week and there?s just not much a coach can do to stop a team from running over you. Arkansas? doesn?t take enough chances for turnovers to be a concern and unless they are -2 or worse in that department, this one shouldn?t be close. Also a returning starter play

LSU -13.5 1 unit
LSU Offense still has much to prove and the Bulldogs are having trouble with the bottom of CUSA. SEC home dogs traditionally don?t bark that loud (67-85 (44%) from ?96-?02)

Virginia -6.5 1 unit
Washington -13 1 unit
Miami (Oh) -7 1 unit

Last 3 RS plays

***Homer Play***

Notre Dame +10.5 1 unit

All this reporting on the lack of a Notre Dame offense reminds me of the talk last year before the Michigan game. Ty gave up the West Coast offense last year after the Pitt game, but this year he will need to stick with it because he has made his linemen more agile as opposed to strong. They will be getting better and I look for Holiday to show the skills that he has that Quinn doesn't and when he gets into the open field he's in his game.

I don't think that Purdue has the discipline nor the talent to be favored by this much and an ND win wouldn't surprise me
