For the second straight week, the weather offers the Boilers no help at all. The Purdue receivers were going to have a tough time getting off the line to begin with, but to add slop and a 20+ mph wind to their timing routes, it may be too much.

Michigan +3.5 1 unit

Erasmus James being out makes the Wisconsin defense so much weaker and the other DE Jonathon Welsh was cleared to play late in the week. The main reason that the Wisconsin defense is so strong is their ability to get pressure quickly on the QB w/o a blitz and they?re able to drop 7. It won't happen this week. This spread/run offense is designed to make DE?s stay at home anyway, and the NW oline is as strong as Wisky?s faced this year. I probably would have grabbed the points with James in the lineup, but without him the Badgers D is only great, not spectacular

Northwestern +13 1 unit

Illini going to give up on the season officially this weekend. Minny on the fake stuff against a Illini defense lacking in speed that?s going to stack the box like Mich State did last week against the Gophers. Should be a lot of long gainers.

Minnesota -17 1 unit

Eagles think a lot more of this game then the Irish and it shows with their effort every time these two play. "I still heard we're more of a nuisance than a rival," Coach O?Brien said earlier this week. BC has made costly errors and are 2 plays away from being undefeated even with a weak schedule.

Boston College +7 1 unit

See a few folks lining up on Minnesota and I agree it?s the right call. Good assessment about Illini giving up on the year. Way too familiar of a spot for Illini this week. They always * try * to play Michigan tough, regardless of the final score, and then lay a egg the next week playing Minnesota ?

2003/10/25 Minnesota 36 - Illinois 10 W
2002/10/03 Minnesota 31 - Illinois 10 W
2001/10/06 Minnesota 14 - Illinois 25 L --- Illini 10-2 season with trip to Sugar Bowl w/ Minn going 4-7 that year.
2000/09/30 Minnesota 44 - Illinois 10 W
1999/10/16 Minnesota 37 - Illinois 7 W

2003/10/18 Illinois 14 - Michigan 56 L
2002/09/27 Illinois 28 - Michigan 45 L
2001/09/29 Illinois 20 - Michigan 45 L
2000/09/23 Illinois 31 - Michigan 35 L --- A night home game for Illini, which had to be the most intense atmosphere in recent Illini history. Game ended in controversy with Illini almost pulling the upset.
1999/10/23 Illinois 35 - Michigan 29 W

Last week they grabbed the cover against Michigan, but how much credit can you give that. Michigan was in a bad sandwich, on the road and with a young QB. They were bound to play under their potential. The Illini always seem to highlight that game as a ? defining moment ? type game. Same old story last week with hopefully the same old outcome today.

GL this week.
