CALIFORNIA vs. WASHINGTON STATE ? Saturday, October 14th - 5:00 PM EST
Washington State has a very balanced offense as shown by their statistics of having run the ball 219 times and with 209 passing plays so far this season. That kind of consistency has paid off as the Cougars have only lost to Auburn and USC but their four wins have come about as a result of relatively unimpressive play from their offense and it has in fact been their defensive play that have kept them ahead in close games with Baylor and Oregon State. Realistically, the Cougars will have to play stellar defense again this week if they are to have any chance of hanging with a red-hot California team.
The Bears have not looked anything like the team that got pushed around by Tennessee in their opener as they have rattled off over 40 points in each of their five games since. This offense is ranked #5 in the nation and QB Nate Longshore is playing like a machine having passed for 1,410 yards and 17 touchdowns in six games. Wazzu has a nice defense but if the Cal offensive line can continue to give him time in the pocket, Longshore should be able to shred a Cougar secondary which is giving up 220 yards per game. This Cal team is playing great football and I am not about to pick this game as the one where they cool off.
