N. Texas/Ball St. U60--Mean Green has 9 starters back on defense (I know, I know, no one probably wants them back) and Ball St. lost a lot on offense. This total seems a little too high for an opening game.

Illinois -6.5 over Missouri--I look for the Illini to bounce back this year and for Misso to struggle.

ULM +41 over Texas--Longhorns will be very good, but I think ULM has enough strength on both lines to keep this one from getting out of hand.

Minnesota -6.5 over Syracuse--It's not too smart to lay chalk on the road with the Gophers but Syracuse is not good at all. Minny has some experience while the Orange are adjusting to a new system.

Another Thursday play:

IU -20 over EKU--I can't see E. Kentucky scoring much in this one. They lost the OVC offensive player of the year and their QB situation seems unsettled. IU's defensive line should have a field day. EKU is also going to be very inexperienced on defense. Even though Indiana is a bottom-feeder in the Big Ten, I don't think an OVC team can keep this one within three TD's.

A few more...

A few more...

Navy +22.5 over OSU--Coach Tressell asked the fans to show respect for the Midshipmen. I'm hoping he responds as well and shuts it down in the second half so Navy can score a late one.

Kentucky/Miami U49--Agree with Spang on this one. Wanted to wait for the line movement.

UTEP -8.5 over Buffalo--Losing Willy is going to be tough for Buffalo early. UTEP used to be a laughing stock (Using Texas Extra Players, U Take'Em Points, etc.) but they have actually turned into a pretty solid team. Their QB is a stud and I'm sure it's way too hot in El Paso for the fat Buffalo girls to make the trip.
