But I guess the main point which took me forever to get to was ND is not capable of outscoring a team that is going to take advantage of weakness instaed of Carrball which says run the gameplan and keep running the gameplan and we will win. That worked five years until the BCS busters and underdogs started to believe that they stood a chance (which some of them do) if they are coached well.
Case in Point, Urban Meyer has influenced more of the country than Steve Spurrier ever did, and in a shorter time. Coaches who take chances get noticed and then get better recruits, and the better recruits make better teams, and the better teams give the coaches a spring board to better schools with more resources which allow them to become more conservative, but still win and then they fade, fade away or go on to the NFL and SUCK because no owner will allow them to take chances, because chances cause injury to expensive players. A vicious cycle.

So, again Mich St. will win because Steve Spurruer sucked at the Redskins.

I mean, because they have nothing to lose and everything to prove.

INtheBLUE is this what you were trying to say? Well anyways, this is my analysis of ND/Michigan game.

ND and Michigan looked like they were just running straight into each other all day. It just so happened that ND is a little less bad than perennially-overrated Michigan.

Close enough,

Well maybe next year we will all have a chance with Leinhart gone.

Unless Reggie can play the part of best "QB AND leader combo" of a team in the country. Which he might well can do?

I dunno. You might have your chance this year. Next year ND unfortunately plays USC at the end of the season. Booty will be experienced. Or Sanchez for that matter if he beats Booty out. ND would prob. beat USC for sure if it was in South Bend next year in Oct. Guess USC lucked out! :)

Bush is USC's 3rd string punter. Not kidding. He was 2nd string but was beat out by a walk on. :) Imagine fake punts with him back there!

He is probably listed as 3rd string everything. He is amazing.

It sucks Michigan doesn't have one like this year. We could sure use a go to guy.

Give Henne and Hart 2 more years and that should note and be worthy of the perrenial overrating!!

Intheblue.... LOL. ND was up 17-3 with about 6 minutes on the clock. They were simply the better team. In fact, we have beaten the skunk bears the last two out of three times. MSU will not put 35pts on us this week in South Bend. They are playing a different animal this week not Hawaii and Kent St.

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses... Once again the excuse wheel goes around and round.

Michigan had 3 OL out... L. Carr play calling, M. Hart was out (I loved it when they said he pulled a hamstring or was it when they had to remove C. Mays helmet from his sternum... He got knock the f*ck out).

Everybody was saying ND would go 0-6 or 1-5... Now everyone is saying Michigan and Pitt are overrated. Give me a break. I hope everyone keeps disrespecting us. At home versus MSU (-6.5) is a gift. ND will take MSU to the woodshed this weekend.

By the way R. Mcknight is NOT our #1 receiver. M. Stovall, Jeff Smardazja and M. Shelton (who is a lot faster than Rhema) will be fine. Michigan fans should remember Shelton he carved your asses up and down the field in South Bend last year.

Beating Michigan in Ann Arbor is an extremely difficult task for anyone. USC wouldn't know this because their to busy playing the University of deaf and blind tech a state funded school.

c'mon, who are we kidding here! state will score on notre dame, and i have no doubt that notre dame will be able to score too. "take them to the woodshed"??? that's a joke. this game can go either way. state is just as physical as notre dame on both sides of the ball, they know how to beat notre dame, this is alway's a close game between these two. i didn't get to watch the notre dame/ michigan game this weekend, but i looked at the numbers and saw quite a few local highlights. i left with the impression that notre dame jumped on us early, and we consistently moved the ball at will only to choke three times inside the five. i don't know that notre dame was the better team last weekend. pitt showed their true colors against ohio, and that can hardly be looked at as a quality win. i think state hangs in this game all the way, possibly wins outright (once again), and should be a hell of a game. good luck!

Double D,
I just love it when two people totally disagree on a specific outcome. I completely respect Notre Lame and their team ability. They aren't the second best team in football history for nothing.

On the ND / Michigan State game:

I am glad we but heads because that means one of is going to eat crow. I have have tasted that delicasy before and admitted it. I hope you will have the decency to do the same on Saturday.

I thought ND would beat Michigan. I was surprised because I actually thought they were better than they realy are. I didn't doubt them against Pitt. I didn't question that they would win in Ann Arbor. BUT I do think they will get that early morning wake-up-call on Saturday.

Double D get the fork and knife ready because Crow is too tough to eat with a spoon!

One of the flaws of this site - for the most part the guys here who know teams very well are such enormous homers one cant truly take advantage of what they should be able to offer.

As for this game, I am not playing it, but if i were I would take Mich State.

Great post INtheBLUE.

Wasn't Michigan without 3 starters on OL against ND?

All Big Ten RT Jake Long was out (lost for most of season in camp)
All Big Ten TE Tim Massaquoi was out
All Big Ten and preseason AA RB Mike Hart missed almost the entire game
All Big Ten RG Matt Lentz missed the 2nd quarter and played hurt in the 2nd half.
Backup RT Mike Kolodjiez (who was starting for Long) was out

Michigan may have been overrated at #3, but you never would have been able to tell based on what you saw in that game. With the 85 schollie limit you take that many players away from an any offense they are going to struggle. Michigan may actually have some big value ATS if/when they get healthy later in the season.

I personally wonder why that veteran ND offense with genius coach Charlie Weis couldn't manage more than 244 yds and 17 pts against that "horrible" Michigan defense that gave up 400+ yds to NIU?

Thanks for the back-up Wood.

This fact is why my money goes to Michigan State this weekend.

We know PITT was extremely OVERRATED. But I dont think Michigans Defense is underrated. Sure they played up, but 244 yds. GEEZ. Do the math.

If you arent getting worried yet Double D, you should be.

FWIW, this is a no play for me. People are forgetting that MSU has a high school set of defensive backs. That, and their pass rush is non-existent. I do like the over a bit.

Tell the truth, I am more worried about the rushing D than the passing D. Hawaii got over 4 yds per carry against them but only 236 yds passing. Their main back got 8.9 yds per carry and the QB got 5.3. kinda scary. Kent St. who throws 4 out of 5 downs only got 300 yds on 55 tries. I know its Kent St but 55 times you would think that it should have been more.

Against the ND O-line, they will have problems stopping the run.

I really like the efficiency and versatility of Mich St. offense. Stanton is Money (#4 QB rating in the country) and the run game - 4 different backs that can break it open. I am kinda impressed.

Again, the only question is can Notre Lame outscore them?

Wow - before the Michigan game. Everyone one was saying that Michigan was playing a vanilla offense/defense versus N. Ill. not to show too much on the field for ND.

Now all of the sudden N. Illinois is so terrific because they had more yards than ND. LOL. Michigan play with a lot more intensity against ND than N. Illinois. This is not even an argument.

Michigan St. has beaten Hawaii and Kent St. Give me a break. They have proven nothing. This is the same team that ND beat up in E. Lasing with no offense to speak of.

Michigan St. will be on the road for the first time this year, while ND will be playing it's first home game. This place will be crazy. Charlie has been all over the players about MSU winning 4 straight at ND. This streak will be coming to an end on Saturday.

After ND spanks MSU the excuse wheel will go around and around again. BTW, injuries are a part of the game. Great teams don't use this as an excuse they just replace them and move on. It is just part of the game.

ND 31 MSU 14 If ND should lose I will be back to eat crow. Just like a million Michigan fans who were bragging on the ND's (rivals) site before Saturday.

amen volfan

I made a lot (for my betting action) on the ND Mich game

1.took the ND money line
2.took the ND points
3.took the under on first AND second half

My biggest single game of the year so far.

AND I AM THE MICHIGAN FAN HERE!

I think I know how good ND is. They beat my precious Wolverines. But they are about to find out what it a difference an agressive Offense makes.

I will be taking the money line and the points on this one too. I really hate to say this, but GO Spartans.
