Skipper,

If those revenue figures are correct then it would make sense for the Big 10 to pursue Texas as the 12th teams since Texas would provide them with a huge market to sell the Big 10 Network. When the SWC broke up, Texas was interested in both the PAC 10 and Big 10, but the PAC 10 requires a unanimous vote for expansion and Stanford was against the addition of Texas. The Big 10 was interestedm but they had just added Penn State and had a moratorium on expansion

They could pursue Texas but it woudn't make any sense for Texas to leave the Big 12, I can't remember who it was but someone posted which colleges made the most profit from sports or football(one or the other) and it was Texas. Why leave if you're making the most of any school?

Layinwood,

The Big 10 is on record stating that an expansion team will have to bring to the table the same things that Penn State brought with their expansion. That is, a new school must bring financial, academic and fan base value to the conference that is above and beyond what an average school would bring to the table. You can eliminate Cinc, WVU, LOU, Pitt and Iowa State either because they are considered 3rd tier academic schools or they bring little impact financially to the conference. That leaves Mizzou, Cuse and Rutgers as the most likely teams and none of these teams would bring a WOW impact as PSU did when they joined the conference. If they are going to swing for the fences since the Big 10 really doesnt have to expand then they might as well go for a huge fish like Texas, Nebraska or ND.
