to any doctors familiar with this scenario ..i would arrpreciate some input...

sat night i was hit with a punch as i turned my head.breaking up a fight ...nose began bleeding immediately ..wasnt really that bad...as i assumed however..when i woke up sunday ...my eyes were puffy and black and blue underneath...my nose was black and blue as well...with swelling...it seems a bit crooked as well...i figured i broke it ....to my surprise however when i went to the emergency room today....the ex rays showed no break...it still looks a little off to me ....the doctor said there was no break...and my breathing was fine therefore there isnt anything they would do...i have been icing it and taking some anti inflammatory meds..which has helped the swelling...but in my opinion it still looks different...

any medical advice would be appreciated...im thinking of setting up an appointment with my primary care physician but im not sure if this would be a waste of time

I am not a doctor nor do I play one on T.V., but I have some experience on this matter. Most likely the blow has somewhat deviated the septum either do to swelling or displacement of the septum itself. Won't kill ya and will teach you not to turn your head next time. Duck and bob....Hope this helps

Damn Cooz that Sucks. I'm no doctor but have broken mine about 12 times. They don't normally do anything unless your septum is f-d up. That is painful deal, when they pull the packing out.

cooz, sorry to hear about that buddy. Sounds like a deviated septum, happened to me twice, once it seemed to affect breathing somewhat. Went over to the Faulkner, they did nothing for me either, luckily second time straighten it out somewhat:D . hopefully when the swelling goes down it will straighten somewhat to your being comfortable with it. I hear they can straighten it for you, but it is pretty painful & involves sticking a "trumpet" & forcing the septum straight again.

Good luck

chit happens....i mean its not ridiculous..but just looks a little off...the doc said it was still symmetrical so nothing to do about it...i have banged my nose up so many times that it was always a little screwed up ..and maybe it just looks worse cuz of the swelling...

cooz3,

I am not a doctor either but years ago I was diagnosed with a broken nose(football) also. I also had the puffy eyes & had the black & blue under the eyes. I went to the er & was also told that as long as long as I could breath I should not worry. A few weeks later I was back at football.

You will be fine.

Cooz,

Watch more Hockey....only break up the fight when they hit the ground.

I know that hurts, been there. Once in Backyard football, once with a Baseball Bat and again on a Trampoline. The only thing worse is the looks and stares you get as people wonder "Wow, who kicked that guys ass".

...did it a couple of times myself while wrestling in High School cooz. Twenty minutes on/Twenty minutes off with that ice. It'll be a big help.
