Here is the situation. My wife's grand-father was featured in the magazine, Life of Soldier and Airman, in October 1949. I am looking to dig up a copy. We have recently put him in a home to help with his early stage dementia.

The story was called Top to Bottom as he was both a deep sea diver and with a parachuting unit (this was his normal job).

His name is Lt. Ward Oakley.

I found a copy of the magazine from one month prior to his article.

Does anyone on here know of someone who has or finds items like this?

Example:

July 1953

Thanks.

Thanks, Steve.

I posted to Craigslist, but I don't have a lot of faith that it will hit.

hey dawg,

you're looking for the physical magazine itself, correct?

I emailed a friend at the National Archives and Records Administration... will keep you updated.

Awesome! Yes, we would love a physical copy of the magazine.

Thanks, hogman!

The October 1949 issue of "Life of Soldier and Airman", I do not know of any source other than ebay that might be of assistance in your search. One possibility is, if this was a government publication, maybe the Superintendent of Documents office in Washington, Dc might be able to help. Log in to www.USA.GOV, type in 'Superintendent of Documents' and see if they're able to help you. Good luck!
