Look at this trend PENN STATE kicking the shit out of SOTA and SOTA kicking the shit out of MSU. maybe that will help some of you out that are still wondering what the outcome of this game will be.

for one thing, when you see comments like this, you know you should be on the other side.

the first 2 stats from statman02 are very telling. generally the team going into this matchup with the worse record ends up winning.

psu's strength, obviously, is their defense. however, they are much better at stopping the run, as demonstrated by their big wins over minnesota and wisconsin. they have not fared as well against strong passing teams.

michael robinson has had a great year, but he is still turnover-prone. that is not good going into a conference road game.

penn state routed msu last year, 37-13. when psu sucked. it'd be easy for them to be overconfident coming into this game, after spending 2 weeks listening to the entire campus tell them how great they are and that they're going to roll over msu and play in a bcs bowl. any coach in the country except joepa, and i'd expect an outright win for msu. it's going to be a close game. i think/hope psu will pull it out in the end. should be very similar to when psu played northwestern.

and, fwiw (probably not much), i have a pretty good read on this team. i'm 6-1 on penn state games this year. often it's been one of my top plays of the day. and i'm gonna be on michigan state this saturday (while rooting for penn state, of course).

Well, good luck with that play but I have a feeling you will be kicking yourself saturday

i hope you're right. if penn state routs 'em, it'll be worth a couple bills. :)

yeah, that should be a good game. i've been on the right side at least the last 3 years, but i don't know what i'm doing this year. i'm leaning more and more towards michigan. they've been playing pretty good football since the win over psu.

Great question! I feel the same, live in Michigan and can't figure out why this line isn't in the double digits! Two totally different teams, Penn State has heart! MSU lost theirs after getting their pussies kicked in by Michigan! The Dome victory still baffles me but JL smith almost gave that game away too. And 14 points against Northwestern's defense??? Stanton seems to be following in Smokers shoes and their defense is weak as a norleans dike! And like you I'm thinking total mis-match so load up, BUT this smells like a huge sucker bet to me. Just when you think a team can't hang, they pull off some fricken miracle to keep it close. It's one of those damn'd if you do, damn'd if you don't! I'll probably play a little something on Joe Pa but not so much that I break all MSU paraphernalia in the office when it flip flops! Gl

Can anyone give me reasons why I shouldn't bet my whole role on Penn St. this week only giving 7 points to an average at best Mich St. Team? I have seen some of you touting Mich St. as a good play so I dont know please need some help!

And to boot, the bowl would be the cherry bowl in DETROIT! Don't think many kids on MSU look to that as an incentive!

If Minnesota can run all over this MSU team....What do you think PSU will do? This is a talented PSU QB, and will do a bit of running around himself. If you're a PSU fan me being at UPitt and your betting on MSU, your not very bright I'll just leave it at that. And trust me I hate PSU. However, If there was one "rivarlry" team that I knew would win this saturday I would say it most likely to be PSU. Who ever goes to PSU and bets on MSU winning this one GL being laughed at by you're buddies.

not doubting this OFF...

not doubting this OFF...

..but how do they fall asleep to the tune of 14 pts scored against a PURDUE defense(MSU scored on FMB recov for TD) albeit in purdue. i Believe that Penn St has a better "D" than boilermakers--and tehy'll need it--as STANTON should be firing on all cylinders. NOt sold on the MSU's RB's jus yet. Taegue and Ringer have shown flashes--specially ringer--but against some strugglin squads in ILL and IND. I like Penn St. looking like 38-21 IMO. GLA
