Need help with sock eating dog

Ok, I heard from her... probably not what you are looking for, but this is it...

Keep socks away from him. No contact. Cold turkey. Keep
him
out of bedrooms. Keep him out of laundry rooms. And good luck. (great
advice, eh?)


I talked to her and she basically said a shock collar would be just as effective as you punishing the dog everytime you see him going for the sock. The only way the dog is going to stop is to A) get punished everytime he goes for a sock...or B) not having contact with any socks, he will probably get over what ever it is.


As a side comment she said wash your damn feet,,, there is some smell in those socks that he is really attracted too.

Maybe this will help me stop masturbating into a sock everytime I see one laying motionless on the floor. It really is incredible. The reaction is completely automatic and resistance is futile. "Hey look a sock on the floor, how did that get there? I should probably pick it up and throw it in the hamper. Wow! Thats a soft sock. Hmmmm.......Noone else around...........shnekita......shnekita.......shnekita....Okay now I'll throw it in the hamper", is usually about how it goes. Maybe thats what ole Rex is smelling????? You popping off in them things before you shove them under the bed?

Probably ought to sign out of this bad boy before the GF sees it as she will probably try to fit me with a shock collar while I am asleep.....

I used to have a dog that used to eat dirty diapers all the time............had to quit wearing them for chrissakes.

UPDATE


So we bought the shock collar. The directions said to wait 48 hrs so he gets used to it before using it for corrective measures. T minus 12 hrs before we can use it on him and he starts throwing up. I know exactly what happened . Another sock has been eaten. So we hold off on using the collar and waited for the sock to pass. The posted odds were -200 he throws it up and +180 it comes out his ass. Anything elses was +800. I should have bet the farm on the anything else line.

On the third day of him not getting rid of the sock and him completely reaking havoc on our carpets from throwing up I took him to the vet. I explained I knew what was wrong with him so the gave him an x-ray. Here is something you may not know. Socks do not show up on x-rays. The vet found gas bubbles in his stomach so she said something was in there but nothing was showing up. So they opened up his stomach yesterday afternoon and pulled out the sock. It got jammed in there good and surgery was the only way it ws going to come out.

Called and checked up on him today and they said he is getting back to his old energetic self of being a puppy. So he comes home this afternoon.

Cost for this fiasco????? $1300. :scared :scared Plus $50 for the carpet shampooer.
Oh well. At least he is fixed up now. I asked the vet to just put a zipper in where they opened him up in case it happens again.

So he is fine and we tore thru the house and made sure there wasnt a sock to be found before he gets home in a couple of hours.

Yes it would seem like it was easy enough wouldnt it. Here is what happens..carry clothes to washer and a sock hits the floor..gone. He actually figured out how to pull socks out thru the small holes in a hamper basket. That one took awhile to figure out. Kids leaving clothes on there bedroom floor and not closing there doors all the way..socks gone. Wife and I getting ready to bump uglies and and socks hit the floor in the heat of the moment. Dont pick them up right after the dirty deed and dog comes in and eats one.

I took the dog over to my parents house a few weeks ago. They are both retired and there isnt anything laying around. The dog went to one of the back bedrooms and came out carrying a sock. Parents still have no idea how he got it or where it came from.

Trust me...I could let this dog loose in your house and he will come out with a sock.
