Kudos on the move Tom if thats what you wanted. Here is what I remember from when I was down there. Clearwater is an ok area and some parts of St Petersburg are as well. The way they have the city set up is a peice of cake streets run north and south avs run east and west.
The areas I like were by the water treasure island and madria beach as you probably already know that the closer you get to the water the higher the price for housing will be.
Most of the houses are slab houses it should have central ac and heat you will need both mostly in the summer time though. 9 years ago a 3 bed room house depending on the area ran between 50,000-125,000 on a very small parcel of land less than a half acre in the st pete/clearwater/pinnellas park area
Stay away from mobile homes very cheap to buy but you will take a beating trying to sell it, they are a dime a dozen not to mention you will bake in the summer time a freeze your ass off in the winter even with 40-50 degree weather after your body get accustom to 90 degrees with almost 90 percent humidity,
Depending how far you wanted to travel to and from work and if you wanted to stay out of the st pete/clearwater area look at areas like newport richie holiday tarpon springs dunedin palm harbor all of these are right on US highway 19
The first summer will be very hard on the body. I hope you have an ac car and it's not black cause you will need it
Good Luck with the move and when you get down there say hello to goofy for me!!!
