After the big win Sat, booked me Flights to Vegas and going to drive over to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl. Only spending two nights in Vegas and need some help on hotels. Stayed at the MGM last time around ('97), but wasn't all that impressed. Looking for someplace close to the strip, with a nice book, reasonably priced and most importantly, not looking for a tourist trap family type place. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Barbary Coast is nice, though the sportsbook is small. Could walk across to Bally's sportsbook. Harrah's is pretty decent.

First of all..congrats to you CWood on the big Michigan win. I was hoping for them win win it after their amzing comeback victory over Minnesota (I was there, I saw, I cried!).

As for Vegas, I get there 2-3 time a year. One group always stays downtown, but on my other stays, I like Harrahs and Balley's very much. The Flamingo has nice rooms and a ok sportsbook. I would stay at the Imperial Palace, but it has a great Sportsbook if you're looking for competitive odds and LOTS of different kinds of bets (props, etc.)

The Stardust has a very nice book and reasonable room rates, however, I assume you are going to be there New Years Eve, the room rates may be inflated.

Speaking of New Years Eve, if you plan on being in Las Vegas, it is a mess. We had a group do the same thing you are planning to do a few years back, that is stay in Vegas and drive to the Rose Bowl. Never again. It is nothing but a zoo. Most hotels won't even let you in unless you are staying with them. Be careful.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm a member of the Harrah's club so I am going to give it a shot. Won't be in Vegas for NYW Big Daddy, but thanks for the heads up. Leaving for Pasadena on the 30th to avoid the mess.

Hey cwood,

I was at the game on Saturday....what a great day to be a Michigan Wolverine! :)

I hope you have a contingency plan in effect for New Orleans on Jan. 4th. :D

Stranger things have happened.

This might be a BIG help to you.....

This might be a BIG help to you.....

I get my rooms at the wholesale rate and I do so at this website.

You may go for the plan B rates and get the room pretty cheap on this one:

http://www.lasvegastravelsaver.com

OR if your looking for multiple dates go for the plan A and save yourself a bundle....

You'll have to get the certificate here....

http://www.cashsaver.net/

and then you will go through travelsaver and they will pick a hotel on the strip for you.

This is the cheapest way to go - plan A, but you do not get to pick.

I used the plan B last time and stayed at the Tropicana and saved myself hundreds of dollars however they have lots of other ones that are nice to choose from....

Hope this helps!
