PF,

Will be in Reno for some skiing this week (Wed PM - Friday AM) and looking to play Sam Houston on Thursday 2/26, mainly to due to the late post time (7 PM CST) good thing to do after a day on the slopes. Any insight that you can provide on that day would be appreciated. Let me know if you still need some help on your app!!

gracias

Still fine tuning the program a bit, actually a bunch, but I will get in touch with another small application I need some help with. As far as Sam Houston on the 26th I will be glad to give the card my full attention as soon as the data file becomes available. Will you have access to a computer and the web while you are there or do you need info before you leave? That data file should be available for download tomorrow, but not with Post Positions and ML odds till probably late Tuesday. I can handicap the card without post positions and ML odds, its a bit tougher though simply because Sam Houston does have an inside speed bias in short races.

Let me know how soon you need the info and you shall have it.

Thank you kindly sir, I will have my laptop with me so anytime prior to post time will work :D I will put in work myself, will give me something to do on the plane. In regards to your app, look into PERL first and or Java if you want GUI's, they both compilers/interpreters are free, sh*tload of tutorials fro free and great for file manipulation and residing as underlying code for web pages. It also does not bind you to one OS - the way that C++ does.

No problem then, I will look it over as soon as a data file with post positions is ready for download, enjoy the trip and make some cash, that would be a great exacta.:D

Starting to look over the card now, will post as I get through each race:
First race is pretty complcated as we have a horse that should be getting his picture taken before the rest of the field turns for home, the ML favorite #9 Makaha, however he has not racd for 272 days, and I hate that kind of layoff, last time this horse took an extended vacation he ran a so-so race then came back to crush a field of 30K claimers, his 3rd or 4th best effort would be good enough here though his recent works don't show he is ready to give it so I would look elsewhere for a price considering he will be bet down to even money at best. I prefer the #5 MrCleverSocks over the rest of the field, solid horse who has caught off tracks his last 3 races so if you get there on a dry night this one should be ready to roast em and you will get a pretty good price here. Watch the tote if you get there early, a sizeable bet on the 9 right off the bat may mean he's ready to go, otherwise check the 5 for a nice price and go that direction...........

Race 2

Race 2

WTF is this Charlestown? 7 horses in this race with a combined 2 starts among them:rolleyes: This would be a good time to grab a beer and pass tha race, way too many unknown's here. Of the horses that have raced the 2 should have his way with them, very strong early speed and advantageous 2 post position, doubt you will see the 6-1 price the ML has when post time gets here simply because of the connections of Morgan/Cloninger but should graduate from the ranks of Maiden calimers if none of the first time startes is cranked and ready, of the firsters the trainers of the 1 and 5 are the only ones to show a propensity towards winning at first asking and I much prefer the work pattern of the #1 horse BouncingLeap who's ML is 15-1, if this gets bet down in the 8-1/10-1 range you may want to make a play for value on this one, otherwise I really would sit this one out, garbage race...........

Race 3

Race 3

I am always guilty of looking for a longshot and betting them over a slightly better horse, but no way should the #8 horse be given so little credit my the linemaker. Another horse who has been the victim of some cruddy track conditions the last 4 times out, just needs a fast surface to run on and he could be big money here with a ML of 15-1 and a large field, reguardless he's worth a small play on a dry/fast track. The best horse in the race is probably the #7 Splinter, dueled hard to lose by a length as the favorite last race, those kind of races tend to take alot out of a horse and that effort was only 26 days ago, however he looks strong enough to handle this crowd, should be a good race to watch.

7-10-2-8 Again if the odds get high enough on the 8 I would consider it a big overlay and take a shot at the win ticket.

Race 5

Race 5

I like the solid 1 in this race, not the 1A so much, so if one of them scratches which is likely be sure you are betting the solid 1, if he is the scratch then the 7 would be top choice followed by the 9 horse.......

No race 6, on to race 7

No race 6, on to race 7

The sixth race is an arabian race and therefore no past performances, race 7:

Going out on a limb a bit with the 9 horse here, like the 11 and 12 a bit as well, could be a very close sprint here, just hate taking all these outside post positions.........

Race 8

Race 8

Well thanks alot Ryson, now I have to stop at the OTB on the way home and get down on this race. REALLY like the 20-1 ML on the 8 horse SilverMineRanch, cerainly his two tries with allowance company since breaking his maiden have been awful but they were both on off tracks and forced wide at the turn, go back to the races before that and you'll see he is very competitive with any horse in the field AND he is cutting some distance off here, I really like his chances in this race at a very generous price (I hope). If you don't have the stomach for throwing cash on a giant long-shot then the 9 looks best and then the 5. Make no mistake about it though I am gonna take a big shot with the 8 here personally, these are the kind that help pay the bills around here:eek:

Race 10

Race 10

Hard to see past the 5 horse, looks best.

Ryson, good luck and I certainly hope you have a good time and moke some cash. I think you may have actually helped me out here as I have been in a bit of a slump the first 2 months of the year and I think I really gave the card a solid look since I was doing it for someone else and didn't take any short cuts. I know sometimes there is only 10 mins or so between posts for races but trust me I looked over stuff while I was not posting so more than 10 minutes went into each race, thses may not all be winners, but they are what I would play if I was at the track and like I said earlier I am gonna stop and try the 8 horse in the 8th race.

Good Luck
