nevada +3-: don't consider myself a mw conference guru (we have some at mj's, maybe they'll chime in) but this game caught my eye because of some similarities with yesterday's cornell game. nevada coach eric musselman is the son of legendary coach bill musselman, and has taken the wolf pack from a doormat to a contender in a couple of years. he's from san diego, a usd alum, and this is his 1st trip home with his team. they arrived two days early, on friday, and musselman took them to the rec center where he played in his youth, then our for burgers. saturday they ate at his mom's house. this kinda stuff is old school to me, the kind of thing you don't see much anymore in the big time money ball of the one and dones. musselman pieced this team together mainly with castoffs abandoned by big name programs, and has molded them into a real team unit with this approach. this game is big for nevada, they are in the hunt for the mwc crown, they've already beaten conference leader boise st in boise, and they have them again in reno in a couple of weeks. i have a lot of respect for steve fisher on his home court but, lets face it, this isn't one of his better teams. at least that's what the students think - even though this is a big televised conference revenge game on a sunday afternoon, they failed again to pick up their allotted tickets. out with the old, in with the new, i'm taking the points and some ml too.
