just had a new 3-ton Goodman AC/Heat system with 10 year warranty.. $5,800.:sadwave:

Thanks guys, first quote I got was $6500, next two have been in the $4500 range, waiting on one more, but not liking having to fork over this much cash...:sadwave:

I think AC is just one of those things that's more expensive than people realize (and I include myself in that group), because they rarely have to deal with it. It's even more expensive if you go with one of the better brands, like Trane or Carrier.

Cars, houses, TVs, etc. -- people usually have a good idea of what to expect with those things, but AC?? Who the hell knows what to expect with AC? :shrug:

If you plan on living in the house for any extended period of time, you might want to look at quality of the system as much as price. Better systems will obviously cost more, but they should perform better and last longer. Just something to keep in mind.
