Thanks for the heads up. I ran AA 6.0 and it came up with 15 tracking cookies...which is about the norm. Quarantined them all. Then DL'd SE and ran a scan, and it came up with 71 more objects! 70 were tracking cookies in my IE cache (I guess the old AA didn't check for these??), and one was something I have never seen before:

"BroadCastPC - Data Miner - Tracks web usage. Targeting is based on web usage patterns. Delivers ads (TV and HTML) at specific times even if the user is offline. Downloads and deletes content from the user's PC. Uses 'viral' marketing. Places bets on the San Diego Chargers on your behalf."

:scared That's a new one....

(ok, the Chargers part I just made up...the rest though is accurate)

I got about the same result as GM. Ran the most updated version od Ad 6.0 and got 27 objects. Then immediately downloaded the new version and it found 70 new objects. This obviously is a deeper cleaning and spy protection than the other! THANKS FOR THE UPDATE!!!!

I know it's probably something I'm doing wrong, a bloody cockroach would be better on a computer than me. Every time I run the scan it shows 76 Critital Objects but then a grey box comes up saying SYSTEM SHUTDOWN.....(RPC) terminated unexpectedly. Then the computer shuts down and has to restart. Any suggestions........thanks

Thanks! I had 317 objects removed. There were several folders and 3 reg keys as well. Majority of it was that VX2 crap. Still also had that bs Golden casino and lycos sidesearch too.

SixFive.....since seeing your success with the download, I've had my computer shutdown 3 times. Have the ####en do-dad on my desktop, starts scanning, then boom.....SYSTEM SHUTDOWN. My next download is going to be an upload with a hammer....

Jake DiNiro,

Download and unzip to a convenient location the CoolWebShredder, CWShredder.exe available here: http://www.computercops.biz/downloads-cat-14.html

1 >> Restart in Safe Mode: (insructions) http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...001052409420406

2 >> In Safe Mode run the CoolWebShredder and have it "fix" detected problems.

NOTE: do not click on Scan, click on "FIX" and let it do its thing.....

also,

3 >> I would suggest you also do a full scan using Trend's House Call:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

4 >> Download this program and perform both "smart " and "full" scans... delete objects that it finds....

http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/

if you have any questions feel free to ask....

DR.STRANGELOVE.... I've just completed everything that you had posted and I still can't get this thing to work. Went with the CoolWebShredder and it did it's check mark thing and came back "completely clean". Downloaded Trend's House Call and it found 6 items. Clicked on clean but nothing took place, except it said 1 item was in use and couldn't be ? cleaned I think it said. Downloaded Lava and the same problem when I 1st post my question is still there. While it's scanning a grey box comes up and says "System Shutdown" :cursin: This system is shutting down. Please save all work in progess and logoff. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM. Windows must now restart because the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated unexpectely. Once again, thanks for your response and time to the problem. I really appreciate it. :banghead:

Jake,

do the Trend House scan one more time, but this time before the scan have (AUTO CLEAN) checked off before you scan.

I'll look into your issue and see what I can come up with.

KMA,
any thoughts?

Thanks
