GOP Congressman Bobby Jindal Wins Louisiana Governor's Race

Jindal, a 36-year-old Republican, will be the nation's youngest governor. He had 53 percent with 625,036 votes with about 92 percent of the vote tallied. It was more than enough to win Saturday's election outright and avoid a Nov. 17 runoff.

His nearest competitors: Democrat Walter Boasso with 208,690 votes or 18 percent; Independent John Georges had 167,477 votes or 14 percent; Democrat Foster Campbell had 151,101 or 13 percent. Eight candidates divided the rest.

Just an fyi, Jindall is also a millionaire. The scary part is that he supposedly does not come from money, and he has never held a job outside of the public sector. I am not sure where he earned his $$$, but I voted for him anyway. The incomepetence of the former Governor, who edged out Jindall last election, is well-documented. IMO, he lost in '03 mainly because he is of Indian descent. As embarassing as it is for me to admit, racism is rampant throughout Louisiana. I feel he is the right man for the job, and am very hopeful for the future of Louisiana.

This is just an FYI. What you may not be aware of is the Lt Governor, Mitch Landrieu, whose sister, Mary, is a US Senator, and whose father, Moon, is the former Mayor of New Orleans who most feel started the culture entitltlement that is engrained in the local black community, was involved in the runoff w/ Nagin. Nagin received more of the white vote than would be expected despite his racist remarks leading up the election mainly because many local whites are tired of the Landrieu family taking from the middle class to support those that choose not to make a better life for themselves.

As I'm sure you can imagine, Nagin supporters are few and far between at this point. Nonetheless, I like the direction we are headed with the election of Jindall, and am very pleased with the local buzz. I think Rob Couhig (R) will have a nice shot at Mayor next election. I know my fingers are crossed.
