YouTube fits very well within the Google online media portfolio. But it?s not just Google?s media and financial muscle that benefits the left. Liberals run the leading blog search engine ? Technorati. They run the leading blog software manufacturer ? Six Apart. They invented two of the most important blogging technologies ? Podcasting and RSS. The list goes on and on.

It's official, right-wingers have gone off the deep end.

First of all, I'd suggest that you and this columnist do a bit of fact-checking. Malkin's conservative user group is alive and well at YouTube:

The fact is that open forums like Wikipedia, Google and YouTube do have the potential to be manipulated by *users* with an agenda. It is, however, typical conservative paranoia to insinuate that just because the creators of an open forum are liberal, that they are somehow stacking the deck against conservatives.

What really disturbs me about all of this is that it highlights the utter lack of personal responsibility and trust in markets that many conservatives have.

If conservatives are disturbed that liberals are manipulating some open forum, then stop complaining, get some personal accountability and do something to fight back. Since these are open forums, market forces will eventually cause these sites to reflect a relative moderate version of the truth. What I mean there is that far-left forces may be able to cause temporary bans on videos and temporary edits of Wikipedia entries, but eventually those problems will be corrected by owners who value the objectivity that causes their open forum to be successful.

One thing I do appreciate, DTB, is that you're giving me a chance to argue the left side of things for the first time all week. I'm out of town visiting my parents, which always makes me the conservative zealot of the group.

Air America was terrible. Impossible to listen to unless you were way off the reservation. They had no audience because people usually only get that far off the reservation if they don't pay close attention to politics. My mom and Chioma would have been the perfect audience but they like to listen to music, not complaining, on the radio.

Fox News is more conservative entertainment than news in my opinion. They do report some straight news stories (Shep Smith, etc.) but they are a success because they heavily feature personalities who discuss and analyze news from a conservative perspective.

I think FNC and conservative talk radio are runaway successes because there is a certain bitterness that goes hand in hand with being a conservative nowadays. When you get bitter, you want to vent -- or at least hear others vent.

As you are well aware, DTB, liberals tend to be more laid back and accepting. In fact, one could argue that's our main flaw -- that this attitude sometimes leads to creating moral equivalencies that shouldn't be made. Conservatives tend to deal more in absolutes, which natually leads to a more stern reaction when their sensibilities are violated.

I do think that liberals have their places to vent, but it tends to be on media that supports a shorter attention span. Liberals love the way that BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE ridicules the consumerist fear that pervades our society (even though that movie is wrongly pegged as anti-2nd amendment), but we get our fill in the two hours that the movie runs. I think we'd get tired of hearing a radio or TV talk show host prattling on over and over about the evils of misplaced fear and consumerism.

As far as the YouTube thing goes, they've added videos and made posts on the group since I made my initial post in this thread, so I assume they are still up and running.

It looks like that group is ensnared in a tit-for-tat with liberal activists where both sides are flagging as many videos as possible that come from the other camp. The whole thing seems childish to me, but whatever.

Would the laid back liberals explain why they do 90% of protesting--why liberals are always getting hauled off for disrupting speeches--why there were arrests of about 10/1 at respective politcal conventions--ect ect ect.

aside for abortion fanatics can't think of another violent/or protesting conservative org yet I can name plenty of liberal ones.

I will help you here. These assholes who manipulate your tiny mind like to mislead. That is what created the so called "looney left". When people get misled or lets face it lied to, they fight back. The only time i saw so called "conservatives" protest was the 2000 elections. If it was Pa instead of Florida we would have took each one of u tiny mind so called "conservatives" (makes me puke even mentioning the two of you together) and gave you an ass whupping. This shit would never fly here. Now i can only vouch for my lifetime but why are we now and for six years talking about elections being fixed? I never heard of any thing like this since i have been voting. Power hungry people will do anything to win. By the way dog, read that book i was talking about earlier. You will find out how much of a sucker you are.

That's a tiny, tiny percentage. Those are the nuts that the right loves to bring up. It reminds me of how black people would bring up that serial killers are always white. (You have no idea how much I loved it when the D.C. sniper turned out to be black. Chioma and her mom were just crushed.)
