I really appreciate all the insights that all of you have given me, the wife and I both are working for the same company and have put everything in storage and boneing out on $1600.00 a month rent for hotel living in the big easy rent free and $56.00 to spend on meals a day, first time in years to be able to bank some hard earned cash and not have to pay the slumlord!

Peace, DV

Just be careful...

Another broad daylight murder in an "upscale" part of town (near a gutter home, as there is no more UPSCALE part of town)...4 more white trailer parkers made the news for selling crack, FEMA trailers/meth labs blowing up all over the city..

But you can'd go wrong with Cafe Du Monde, Mother's and some of the great food in the Quarter...

 Hey Schouest that place has got to have the tightest slot machines in the country man I dropped half of my paycheck in 3 hours.
I love it here in the city though have been going to the Red Fish Grill to eat excellent food, Can you tell me the best night to check out the Zepheyers i.e. free beer night?
Thanks for the info everyone

They play home on Sat the 27th and Sun 28th....

I know they have their tourny coming up soon, but can't be that weekend..I may see what I can swing...the kids love the games, Airline Dr is about as far as I go into N.O.

thanks for the insight on city bro! I had just got back from a couple hours of 3 for 1's at BBC and Razoos so forgive me for the previous post.
Again thanks for all the insight on the nightlife.

gumbo or crawfish?
The Gumbo Shop on Saint Peter Street in the Quarter has exceptional creole food.

The Gumbo Shop

Another ?can?t miss?, as pointed out by Lawtchan and Schouest, is Mothers? which is about one half block from Harrahs on Poydras and Tchoupitoulas.

In a single year, Mother's serves up:

No less than 175,000 pounds of ham and roast beef
More than 40,000 pounds of turkey
A staggering 30,000 pounds of homemade sausage
Quarter of a million biscuits (and even more eggs!)
A whopping 90,000 pounds of jambalaya
Some 25,000 soft-shell crabs and even more shrimp
Nearly 250,000 pounds of cabbage
An incredible 150,000 loaves of French bread
As many pies as there are ships passing through the port of New Orleans (3,500)
A spicy 1,500 gallons of Creole mustard
And an honest ton of hot pepper sauce

Mothers
