Wineguy....

One of the best restaurants that I have ever eaten in was Le Bernadin (sp?)....

.

Ate there when I was 18 with my GF and her family- at the time I had zero appreciation for food. Now I'd kill to go back. Her dad was a foodie- at at Le Cirque, maybe Daniel? tons of others I unfortunately can't remember.

In other words, no Le Bernardin nor Daniel for wineguy.:0047

But, 50-100 per person is fine. Eating at Sparks Steakhouse one night for sure. Recommended by a buddy I work with.

A lot of good suggestions already have been posted...my son in Austin works on the side from his computer company for Localeur. He is the computer engineer who set up sites in about 6 or 7 cities. They did NYC last year...think you will like it..Gives you all sorts of ideas of what to do,eat,etc....take them down to the World Trade Center. Was there last week...so powerful.....My wife and I celebrated out 39th wedding anniversary last month in NYC.....stayed at a hotel on 57th street for one night....went to TKS{ discount theater tickets in Times square} Saw 2 plays.."Rock of Ages and "Once"....they were great.....have fun...

you couldn't get a reservation at Le Bernardin on this short notice anyway. Unless you palm the ma?tre d at least $50...Charlie Palmer's Aureole is easier to get into and just as good and expensive.

I like Katz' just fine. The famed Carnegie Deli in the Theater District is more expensive, but sandwiches are huge and you can get a split plate at no extra cost (unlike their outpost at The Mirage in Las Vegas! Assholes!). Last time I was in NYC I went to one of the famous soul food places in Harlem. It had a neon sign advertizing their Mac and Cheese.

The Meat Packing District............is the coolest, most upscale, the most trendy place to visit. This is always the first place I go.............so it must be cool.

I used to visit a topless bar in the Meat Packing District....

It was the M & M Lounge & was located on Little West 12th St....

Those were the good old days !!....LOL !!

Those were the good old days. Back in the 70's I must have gone to Studio 54 every other weekend. Now The Meat Packing district is what SOHO and the upper east side used to be like. Great place for people watching.

If you want to eat in a steakhouse New Yorkers eat in as opposed to a tourist joint, Uncle Jacks Steakhouse is the place. There is a location on the West Side on Ninth Avenue and another in Midtown on West 56th. Steaks are terrific and the vibe is good and not touristy.

As for Canal Street (Chinatown/Little Italy} , yes you can't walk 10 feet without being approached to buy counterfeit vuitton, Prada, gucci, Rolex, etc etc etc.
Canal Street is a little gross(even as a native New Yorker) but...you can get some nice things there.
If you are downtown, walk around the financial center (new tower, lots of little bars)

Hey zoomer, forgot to tell you last week got to try Uncle Jacks for dinner with Customers. That place was perfect. Ambiance, locals, great bone-in NY strip, Filet, etc. One lady had the Swordfish with crab that was also spectacular. We ate at Midtown site, then walked by the park because so full. Thanks again.
