thanks guys,

i should re-phrase the question since it was not clear with opening post.

family member has already had prostate cancer surgery on tuesday, went home and was in extreme pain the next night...bloating, vomiting medication etc etc so went to emergency and these events occured..

Yesterday ****** underwent emergency surgery at Cornell
Presbyterian Hospital to repair a
perforated colon. . A two-inch section of the sigmoid colon
was removed, and ****** is now in the intensive care
unit where he will remain until Monday when the
surgical site will be irrigated and the abdominal
incision closed. He will remain in hospital for about
two weeks. In two to three months' time, he will
undergo further surgery to reattach the colon and
eliminate the temporary colostomy.

This has been a frightening experience, but the boys
and I are reassured by the skill and attention of
everyone at Cornell Presbyterian. The doctors are
impressed by ****** general fitness and the strength
of his immune system, both of which should help him
fight infection. This is the great danger now and the
hospital staff are vigilant on this matter.

doctor has performed over 1500 same surgeries but he might have screwed up this time...never will know though...

so i was just wondering if it was a good hospital...

thanks for the link for other hospital...appreciate it.

Kramer, actually this was another concern yesterday one of our very best friends of family whose name is Kevin (49 years old) was given very low percentage of hope 6 months ago with liver cancer but has been still going strong got a bit of a setback yesterday in another case...

from my sister's...email

Kevin & Margie were over for a visit. I asked Kevin what he felt I should pass on.

He told me to say.....They found 2 spots on his liver.

They weren't able to determine what those spots were from his scan that he had last week, so they are going to do an MRI. He's hoping to have the MRI within the next couple of weeks. So to look for an update in a couple of weeks.

His bilirubin is still coming down (78 this week, last week 158). His drainage tube is still putting out sufficient amounts, so they'll leave the tube in for a bit longer. He hasn't lost anymore weight since last week.

It's a life of wonder & worry. He's thankful for everyone's best wishes & prayers. Keep praying & staying positive.

Hope your family and friends make it though without to much pain.

I'm not familiar with this complication with a TURP (which is what I'm guessing the procedure was that he had). Not my strongest field, but that's not a complication that comes to mind.
