Brick Alley Pub/Rest has pub type food w/ a good salad bar. nice hangout. Also for music the pelham and the garden are good bars. See if a band by the name of Those Guys are playing @ the garden if its the weekend(they are great). Any other questions just ask.
any other places to check out. Either tourist stuff or a good place to party. I have no idea about the place, my wife just picked it.
When are you going? They have a great Winter fest in Feb. and first night new years eve. Check the Cliff walk out if it's not too cold. And bring the wife the Marble house mansion. Ocean Drive must be checked out as well.
One of the Vanderbilt's houses is up there, called The Breakers (huge) was pretty cool to walk around in...

If your wife likes journey, a really good journey tribute band is there Friday or Saturday. And a incredible guitarist for a Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute band is there new year s eve, this band is very very good, you can listen to them on the above link.

newport was great. Cool bars, nice ppl, views were gorgeous, seafood was great. I don't think i could do a week there but a two or three day trip would be be perfect. I could probably do like 5 days in the summer though.
the downside was there were a lot of Boston fans who pointed out we were from the NYC area rather quickly bc of our accents. I thought Metro area ppl were rude. Trust me i am not one to go up to the New England region and start trouble, but they sure did. I left one place bc i was getting so much heat. i was trying to keep a low profile and enjoy me 2 days with the wife. I might not of picked a worst time with the pats getting ready to clinch a perfect season, the sox winning the series and the celtics being so nasty, but it was a great time. all love in drinking and gambling.
