Not that it matters but I would say Auburn would have given SC a better fight than Okla did. That being said I agree with Derek about Okla being clear cut because at the time, though there was snub talk about Au, Okla was the team that everyone wanted to see play aganst SC. They were #1 or #2 in the polls all that year, Auburn had to climb to #3. To say Auburn went undefeated, well so did Utah and nobody qustions why they werent in the bowl game either. That was a tough year that coulda used a playoff for sure

I think LSU is going to be very dangerous.

LSU plays @Fla,@Aub,@Tenn, and home for Alabama.

Can they really win all these games??
They will be in the title game if they do,but I don't see it.

I almost forgot you are all knowing, you are in law school after all. You really impress me so much with your sophisticated posts. I really don't give a chit, it just seems like AU2001 has gotten underneath your skin a little bit, hence your hatred of Auburn. Just keep your SLOW azz notre dame team and your guys will continue the streak of losing bowl games....what is it 12 or 13 in a row.

The most overhyped football team in the country year in, year out is Notre Dame BAR NONE.

Other teams typically have to go out and prove their greatness, this does not apply with america's team.

Why are you guys hating on Derek?

Oklahoma should have played in that game, they were the higher ranked team all season long and did not lose. Auburn would have made the game closer, but almost any team that didnt lay down when adversity hit would have too. Whats the big deal?

ND is gonna be damned good next year, and it has NOTHING to do with hype. It has to do with having the probable #1 pick running the offense with one of the best offense coaches in the game, and many other NFL caliber players sprinkled amongst the roster (to say nothing of the recruiting class they will be getting).
Derek already said he didnt think it likely for ND to escape that schedule unscathed, and I tend to agree with him. However, talent wise, they will be among the top 5 in the nation to start the year, and if you cant see that... I dont know what to tell ya.

Jayhawk..

I just think the media likes to have certain teams at the top. If you, or derek, or anybody doesn't think that it is beneficial for a team like Notre Dame to be one of the top 2 or 3 ranked teams in the country your crazy. You think that NBC doesn't care what Notre Dame is ranked???? Let me ask you what game would get a higher rating:

#1 USC vs. #3 Notre Dame

or

#1 USC vs. #15 Notre Dame

Ratings equal dollars, and that is what THIS IS ALL ABOUT.

This is EXACTLY the reason that Oregon didn't play in the Fiesta bowl. They were a one loss team with that loss being to USC, Notre Dame lost to USC as well as piss poor Mich. St.????? Make me understand this??? I don't disagree with the reasoning behind this, its just the way it is.

IT IS ALL ABOUT THE DOLLARS!!!!

I don't disagree with what you are saying in your last post, Steve.

It is beneficial to NBC, and most fans want to see Notre Dame be "relevant."

But that also doesnt mean that at every second of every year they are overrated. They were very clearly underrated coming into this season, as almost no one forecasted them as a BCS pick.

As for your comparison to Oregon... c'mon man... I am not a fan of either school... but on a neutral field, Notre Dame would have won a game between the two by double digits. Yeah, Notre Dame had one more loss. But look at what happened between common opponents when you want to compare the two (if you refuse to look at the obvious HUGE discrepancy in the two teams talent level). USC should have lost to ND (fumble out of bounds, questionable last play, etc.) and USC toyed with Oregon. Those teams were in differant leagues. However, if ND had the 10-1 record, and had played the same teams as Oregon, and Oregon was 9-2 with the same schedule, a differant team might have been playing in the BCS. I will grant you that. But they put the right team in that bowl. They did it for the money, of course, but they also put one of the top 8 teams in the country in that game (although I think other teams like LSU were better... even Miami...).

Just my opinion. But you're right, it is always about the dollars. No disputing that.

blgstocks.....

blgstocks.....

you are going to compare a team that is in the mountain west(i think) that is undefeated, to a team in the SEC that is undefeated, claiming they both got snubbed.....come on.

I knowthis is old news, but if it happened to anybody else in any BCS conference, they would also have a beef.

Those points you attempted to make have NOTHING to do with Auburn not deserving a shot at the title last year OR Auburn getting blindsided by Wisky a week ago.

Agreed. None of us know what ND will do next year. If we did we'd be working at the Mirage in Vegas. Thats the bottom line.

Those who say "oregon shouldve been BCS instead of over-hyped ND" are simply haters. There is NO logic that suggests Orgeon who lost to a 7-4 Oklahoma team, is DEFINATELY better ND who lost to a national title contender. ND lost by more points but they played a FAR better opponent.

Both teams lost, and Oregon lost to a WEAKER team!! How can anyone use that information to suggest Oregon would have WON against MUCH tougher competition?? That is ABSURD!

It is very easy to analyze these types of things after the fact. The simple fact is this:

Oregon 1 loss to USC

Notre Dame 2 losses, USC and Mich State??? By the way what was Mich. State's record???

THEY ARE BOTH IN BCS CONFERENCES. How you justify thinking Notre Dame was more deserving of that spot I can't figure out. The simple fact is it is hard for you to admit that Notre Dame gets fast tracked when it comes to polling, the process of climbing the polls, and bowl games.

I understand this to be embarrassing because it is like that guy you grew up with that is very wealthy with family money and he is always trying to get his buddies to believe that he has some kind of personal, and direct contribution to that wealth.
