Walter Football --

Cleveland Browns: Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming

Saquon Barkley may have been a legitimate option for the top pick at one point, but recent trades will apparently force the Browns into taking a quarterback first overall. I don't necessarily agree with this, however. Given the recent reports that the Giants will select Barkley, it would be logical of Cleveland to take Barkley here, then get one of Josh Allen, Sam Darnold or Baker Mayfield at No. 4 overall. The Browns will be doing themselves a huge disservice by gift-wrapping the best player in the class to the Giants when they can easily take him without any sort of repercussions.

The Browns have been linked to every quarterback not named Josh Rosen. Josh Allen has the biggest arm in this class, and he makes sense for Todd Haley's offense. Darnold is also a strong option. I think it comes down to one of them, and I think I'd give Allen a slight edge right now, per recent reports. I know Peter King and others have Darnold mocked to the Browns, and they could be correct. We're hearing differently, however, though the final decision may not be made yet, so we'll try to keep you updated on this situation.

*** OTHER 2018 NFL DRAFT POSSIBILITIES: ***

1. Sam Darnold, QB - Unfortunately for Cleveland fans, Darnold is the only other choice the Browns are considering with the top pick.

2. Baker Mayfield, QB - Both Adam Schefter and Dan Patrick have reported that Mayfield is in the conversation. In fact, Patrick's sources told him that Darnold is not in consideration to be the top pick.

That's a tough one.... Mike Mayock picked Dallas taking Sutton, Carolina taking Ridley, & the Saints taking Moore....

Giants Could Still Trade No. 2 Pick

A trade of the No. 2 pick is still a possibility for the Giants, sources tell Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com. If they keep the No. 2 pick, Penn State running back Saquon Barkley and NC State defensive end Bradley Chubb are viewed as the favorites to be selected. However, the potential presence of USC?s Sam Darnold could change things.

The Giants ? and those around the Giants ? would have better clarity on their plans if they knew what the Browns were planning to do with the No. 1 overall pick. The Browns have left everyone around the NFL guessing and no one knows for sure if they?ll go with Darnold, Oklahoma?s Baker Mayfield, or perhaps even Wyoming?s Josh Allen. At this point, the entire world might find out the identity of the top pick together when commissioner Roger Goodell takes the podium tonight.

On paper, selecting Sam Darnold as Eli Manning?s successor would be a huge win for the G-Men, but they are reportedly less than enamored with this year?s QB crop. If the Giants are willing to pass up a chance to select Barkley or Chubb, they could net a tremendous haul to swap places with a team dead set on landing a QB.

As always, one of the things to follow on the second day of the draft is where the quarterbacks go. Oklahoma State?s Mason Rudolph is a quarterback who can develop into a starter. We could also see someone like Richmond?s Kyle Lauletta get picked sooner than you may think.

We should also see a lot of wide receivers taken on the second day, after two were picked late in the first round. Christian Kirk is a high-end NFL starter in the slot, and players like Equanimeous St. Brown and Auden Tate have No. 1 receiver potential thanks to their size and athleticism.

Here are the best players available when the second day of the 2018 NFL draft begins:

16. Harold Landry, Edge, Boston College

17. Maurice Hurst, DL, Michigan

20. Josh Jackson, CB, Iowa

21. Derrius Guice, RB, LSU

22. Will Hernandez, G, UTEP

23. Orlando Brown, OT, Oklahoma

29. Connor Williams, OT, Texas

31. Harrison Phillips, DL, Stanford

33. Mark Andrews, TE, Oklahoma

36. James Daniels, C, Iowa

37. Sam Hubbard, Edge, Ohio State

39. Ronald Jones II, RB, Southern California

40. Dallas Goedert, TE, South Dakota State

41. Nick Chubb, RB, Georgia

43. Carlton Davis, CB, Auburn

44. Ronnie Harrison, S, Alabama

45. Mike Gesicki, TE, Penn State

47. Tim Settle, DL, Virginia Tech

48. Christian Kirk, WR, Texas A&M

49. Martinas Rankin, OT, Mississippi State

50. Mason Rudolph, QB, Oklahoma State
