Okay, this is just for fun, if i hurt anyone's feelings, pleez dont UPS me any exploding baloney sandwiches ... I was curious how I really assessed the teams as of today and their futures ... so with no further ado, here they are ... If you want to rip me, just rate them all yourself and take the time i did, hehe

gl to all,
gregg ;) :)

NFL ROUNDUP

nfc

Eagles - Team to beat IMO. McNabb intangible leader, great team chemistry and speed. If they get HF, tuff to beat. Soft schedule coming up and they build MO.

GB - Still have the most resourceful QB in the game. And somehow their D is playing well despite injuries.

Saints - They have pulled games out and shown ability to put a lot of pts on board. Deuce thinks he can get 2000.

SF - Their secondary is in shambles. If it gets cleaned up they have a shot. (Oak, KC, sd, philly next 4 -- ouch!)

Tampa - Their Off is a joke. Their D is dangerous again. 3 straight at home coming up and sched. rest of way not overwhelming.

Rams - My wild card team and not a bad shot at taking whole thing. Go ahead and laff, but they still have Marshall and their D is improving.

Atlanta - If Vik stays healthy they are a team to keep in mind. Easily covered last 3 games. Good shot at playoffs.

Zona - Snake too unpredictable but they have been spunky and have outside shot at making playoffs. Brutal finishing schedule.

Gints - Still tuff team in some ways. MNF game tomorrow will speak on their mental state.

Carolina - All D and no O just like Tampa. Coulda easily had wins vs Zona and Bux.

Redskins - Playing a lil better lately, 2-2 in last 4. Playing for Spurrier would be tuff to gain any chemistry or consistency.

Dallas - Oh well, new QB another loss. If you lose to Hawks @ home it speaks loud enuff.

Lions - Laff again, this team is improving with Harrington.

Bears - Sinking like the sun in the Pacific.

Seattle - woohoo, bagged 2 wins, Holmgren is genius.

Vikes - Beat Ditka today, now #84 can party for a reason.

AFC

Denver - best coach and solid D. Griese can go bad like Peyton, but overall they are my pick right now. Rd. wins at sf, kc, NE?not shabby.

Fish ? Maybe their game with Broncs was preview of afc title. Great def. Speed, but O needs some more punch and injuries have hurt. @ GB this week, will tell a lot.

SD - Lil early to tip any hand, but LT is for real, Brees is heady, and Marty wins his share, except for ultimates.

Pitt - Possibly back on a roll. I might be partial b/c I believe in Cowher. Maddox injury, I need to see what its all about.

Oak ? Wheels falling off and injuries to key DBs. But they still have the pop to make noise. Lost 3 straight.

KC - Prob should put them ahead of Oak, and they always give ya a shot as a gambler, so what else can u say? Potent off, and best TE in football. Their D finally showed up today.

Bills ? Love this team and happy for Drew. Like KC, always in the hunt ATS. Awesome WR duo.

NE - Another team that has tubed. No running game, and can?t stop the same = FADE.

Colts ? Every time this team plays anyone worth a crap they crap their pants. Their W vs Jags doesn?t look so hot now that the expansions did same thing.

Ravens - Gotta get Lewis back on the field. Maybe they deserve higher rating.

Browns ? Quietly crept to .500 by getting expansions and Jets back to back. Butch Davis has a relatively easy schedule the rest of way, if they beat Pitt in Cleve next week they stay in Div. hunt till final weeks.

Tenn - Eeked out a W vs Bungals and climbed to 3-4, still no chance for playoffs, a total 'play against' on rd. IMO.

Jags ? TC is an idiot. Didn?t spike ball today before half, rushed his kicker out, who missed huge FG, then ran onto field to chew Seeder's ass. Oh well, its always someone else?s fault. Season forked losing today. (Yes Im bitter, teased them today, hehe.)

Jets ? Their undefeated preseason seems like 1985 now, doesn?t it? Loss today ended any playoffs hopes.

Houston - Woohoo, they are better than Cincy right now.

Cincy - Woohoo, they are better than UTEP right now ... The best bet I ever made, Cincy season wins under 7. And many warned me not to make it. Of course, none of those would ever admit it now. Joke squad, no QB, wasted #1 picks in Kejana Carter, Big Daddy, Corp. Klinger, Akili, need I go on? Simple woeful. Might be worst franchise in sports on any of the 4 planets nearest the Sun.

over and out,

pretty good start. i think you should rank the teams 1 to 30 regardless of AFC/NFC. unless you're looking at futures? i'll help if you'd like.

Alrighty, I am also bored. I will rank 'em from 32 to 1 (just to be different)...

32. Cincinnati - Virtually no redeeming qualities. LOL They got robbed today though, should have won that game. Then again, they shouldn't have blown a 14-0 lead...but these ARE the Bungles.

31. NY Jets - What, you didn't say Houston? Nope. Houston would beat the Jets on a neutral field right now I think. Run defence is absolutely pathetic. No leadership, shaky offence.

30. Houston - Can be competitive sometimes. Has something resembling a defence but that O-line is really really bad and is gonna get David Carr killed or paralyzed. Had a feeling they'd pull off a couple shockers this year. I still have them pegged for Over 4? wins.

29. Chicago - Playing a completely emotionless form of football right now. Getting worse by the week. Used up all their luck last year. Sure, a downer was expected, but I never thought they'd get THIS bad, THIS fast.

28. Minnesota - They won today, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then. Just collecting their pay.

27. Seattle - No Dilfer, no chance. Most weeks they have been completely outclassed, except for the week they pounded Minny.

26. Indianapolis - If we're talking about where these teams rank according to how they are playing right now, then this is about accurate. Lousy team with a winning record built by beating mostly other weak teams. Seem to be regressing with each game played.

25. Tennessee - A 3-4 record is flattering. Can pull off the odd upset, but also more than capable of gagging against an inferior opponent. The defence is nothing like what it used to be.

24. Dallas - Respectable defence keeps this team in games. Very bad offensively, one-dimensional. Meddling owner and a puppet for a coach.

23. Carolina - Great start but struggling a lot lately. Came up with a big effort today, but there are serious problems on offence with this team. Defence however is better than most realize.

22. Washington - Jekyl and Hyde team. With the right matchups they can look good. But seriously undependable from a betting standpoint. Very well-known QB problems and a coach who is learning on the go. Defensive problems too.

21. Baltimore - Hard to know where to put these guys. Stink it up something fierce first two weeks...then pull off one large upsets and a couple of moderate ones...and now looking very ordinary again.

20. Cleveland - Terrible run defence and questionable leadership. Run hot and cold but they don't pull off the big upsets too often. Soft division helps their record.

19. Detroit - On the verge of climbing higher I think. Offence has performed well for quite a few weeks now, but they have to find a way to stop the other team. Coach and GM are a joke regardless.

18. St Louis - Still too early to say their problems are solved. Looks like there has been some improvement but I wouldn't move them up until it happens again for at least one more game.

17. NY Giants - Good defence but stagnant offence. If running game gets in gear then maybe they could move up a bit. Not a lot of natural talent on this team that I see other than Tiki Barber.

16. New England - Not as bad as they look right now, but still a number of serious problems. First it was the defence; now it looks like Brady is starting to get rattled. It's a lot harder the second time around.

15. Jacksonville - Would have had them ranked higher up until the past two weeks. What is wrong with these guys? The wheels may be falling off.

14. Arizona - I'm having trouble figuring out if they're legit or not. Their D does seem to be pretty respectable, but they hadn't played a lot of good offensive teams until today....and then WHAM, 38 pts against. Time will tell.

13. Oakland - Would have been easily Top 5 if this was done three weeks ago. How the mighty have fallen!

12. Kansas City - Hard to justify putting them any higher than this until that horrid defence improves. Maybe the most entertaining team in the league, superb offence...but...I don't know.

11. Atlanta - Three wins in a row now, looks like maybe they are figuring it out. Slow start hurt them a bit but they are definitely in the playoff hunt now.

10. San Francisco - Maybe starting to come around. Offence has stalled until recently. Still not convinced their defence is good enough to go very far.

9. Buffalo - Getting harder to rank them now. I feel like they should be higher than this but I really can't justify putting them above anyone who is 1 thru 8. Their defence holds them back, but another fun team to watch when they have the ball.

8. Pittsburgh - Looking great now, but looked so brutal earlier. Hesitant to put them any higher because it seems like disaster could be lurking right around the corner. We KNOW they have holes on defence...recent opponents just haven't been able to expose them.

7. Green Bay - They may be 6-1, but I don't believe they are quite THAT good. Brett Favre has got such heart and a great refuse to lose attitude, but the secondary's got problems. They win, but every week it looks like it took every ounce of strength to do it.

6. New Orleans - I love these guys, but they have to do something about that defence! You can't be giving up 35 pts a game and expect to go anywhere (unless you are the St Louis Rams of a couple years ago). Aaron Brooks is having a great year, their schedule is soft the rest of the way. But come playoff time they may be in for a very rude shock.

5. Miami - Looked SO good early on, but the lustre seems to have worn off a bit lately. They'll rebound nicely and are a shoo-in to go to the playoffs. Great defence & the addition of Ricky Williams has completely revitalized their offence.

4. San Diego - If they weren't so young I might even put them higher. Hard to criticize them at this point, but it's a long season. Besides, the remaining three teams aren't exactly weak!

3. Denver - Well-rounded team with a very smart coach. Great home field advantage. Team could be better if they could solve that RB by committee thing they have going on there, but so far they've gotten away with it.

2. Tampa Bay - Sure, the offence is not spectacular, but this team looks a lot more imposing with Gruden coaching them than they did with Dungy there. Best defence in the league bar none. They're gonna be alright...but there's one team they just can't seem to beat....they would be....

1. Philadelphia - The complete package. McNabb in his prime, one of the best defenses, good coaching. Running game could be a little better. They can beat you by outscoring you, or beat you by shutting you down. No question in my mind they are #1.

How was that? :D

{Ok, I have carpal tunnel syndrome I think now from typing all that}

good stuff, but no way does tampa belong in the top five.
They've had trouble with weak teams all year, if it wasn't for their D this would be a very average team. I think their offense is jinxed forever.:D

Huh? How has Tampa had trouble with weak teams? They beat Baltimore 25-0, Cinci 35-7, Atlanta (not really a weak team) 20-6, Cleveland 17-3. Beat St Louis by 12. Those are pretty convincing wins. Today's game was the first time they've struggled against a weak team, and Carolina DOES have pretty decent defence.

all the teams they beat are no better than average plus the bengals, also they beat atlanta without M. Vick, and they lost to the only two good teams they have faced. Yeah Tampa is pretty good but their offense will put you to sleep .

Ya true, dull offence. But if this was a ranking of most exciting teams, KC, Buf and NO would be at the top. Funny....Cinci would be at the bottom of that list too. Hmmm.

I may be biased but the 2 best teams IMO are PHI and PGH.

Pgh seems like they are returning to last years form.If they get there they win Super Bowl.Phi is on top NFC but it may be hard to keep that level all year. Its so hard to predict champs this time of year because season isnt even half over.I hate to be a homer but it looks like the Steelers are pulling it together .I dont think Philly will keep it up for a full season.I would look out for GB because you can never count Favre out , and StL could do some damage when they get Warner back and sneak into the Playoffs.

Interesting...the top AFC team has only the 4th-lowest odds. That doesn't seem right to me. Right now I would say the AFC should be favored in any Superbowl matchup unless Philadelphia is in it.

49ers at 6/1 looks wrong. Also I am very sure Green Bay will not continue to win at their current pace.

On a slightly different note...one prop to keep in mind. Carib has the Superbowl line at:

NFC 46
AFC -1?

Look at the teams with good defence who are near the top of the odds list. There are a lot of potential matchups where the Under would be pretty generous right now. I grabbed the Superbowl Under each of the last two years around Week 11 or 12 and got value (especially the year Balt beat NYG and I got Under 49!!!). Something to keep in mind if you don't mind having some money tied up for a couple months.

ur right, unless rams somehow sneak back in ...

Its funny how pitt has jumped over Fish and many others ... i took them preseason at 3/1 for afc, it went to 12/1 and i took a lil more when they were 0-2 ... obviously no lock but hoping they at least win div then I could hedge some if i wanted ...

this is one of best years ever cuz its so hard to guess who'll be there ...

my preseason pred. was all Penn SB
