Small One Unit Play:
3 game 10 point teaser
Chicago Bears +7 over Saints (Thursday)
San Francisco 49?ers +16.5 over Dolphins
Pittsburgh Steelers +11.5 over Ravens
Bears +7?The Bears have owned the Saints as of late beating them 39-14 in the 2006/07 NFC Championship game and knocking them out of playoff contention last year in the season finale 33-25?this week they face a Saints team that is coming off of a tough home win against the Falcons? but the win was a costly one since they lost their starting left tackle Jamaal Brown to an ankle injury?with Brown OUT tonight, the Saints will be really challenged to keep Drew Brees upright tonight as they face a Bears defense that has played well as of late sacking David Garrard 3 times last week and giving up just 2 passing TD?s over the last 3 weeks while recording 6 INT?s?on the flip side?I expect the Bears offense to move the ball successfully on the ground behind rookie HB Matt Forte who?s looking forward to tonights game since he grew up just outside of New Orleans...the Saints are just 1-5 SU on the road this season while the Bears are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in December when the weather takes a turn for the worse.
Chicago 26 New Orleans 23 WINNER!
Niners +16.5?The Niners have been playing good football as of late as the team is buying into coach Mike Singletary?s program?this week they face a Dolphins team that is coming off of a road win against their arch-rivals the Bills and a team that continues to overachieve in a sense?the key mismatch in this game is the Niners passing game against a Dolphins secondary that is capable of being lit up in any given week?I think the Niners have an outside chance of winning this one outright IF and only IF HB Frank Gore is able to play on Sunday?if he isn?t Deshaun Foster gets the call and the Niners will take to the air more often?the Niners are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall?while the Fins are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
Miami 21 San Francisco 20 WINNER!!
Pittsburgh Steelers +11.5?The Steelers beat the Ravens 23-20 earlier in the season and sacked Qb Joe Flacco 5 times in the process?at first glance I was tempted to back the home team Ravens in this one?but?after a close look it wouldn?t surprise me if the Steelers win this one outright and here?s why?the Steelers 3 losses this season were all to quality opponents 24-20 to Indianapolis in a game they should have won, 21-14 to the Giants in another game they could have won and 15-6 to the Eagles in Philly back in week #3 their lone road loss this season?on the flip side?the Ravens beat a sinking Redskins team last week and their lone quality win was over the Eagles 36-3 in which Donovan McNabb was pulled at halfitime?the Ravens have been blown out by the Giants 30-10, blown out at Indy 31-3 and lost at home to the Titans 13-10?the front seven of their defense is solid?but other than S Ed Reed their secondary is a huge questionmark since CB Chris McAllister and S Dawan Landry are OUT due to injuries?starting SS Jim Leonhard is a Bills castoff and their staring CB?s Samari Rolle and Fabian Washington don?t matchup well against a Steelers passing attack that is capable of piling it on like they did in the Steelers 38-7 home win last year in which Big Ben threw 5 TD passes in that game? All in all?I think the Steelers defense is the better unit overall and offensively I?ll back the more experienced Qb Ben Roeslisberger over Rookie Joe Flacco going against Steelers defensive coordinator Dick Lebeau who has already seen him once this season?I?m not a Steelers fan, but they?ve won 4 straight games and are coming on just like they did when they won the Bowl under Bill Cohwer?I?m voting against the rookie QB Joe Flacco coached by a rookie head coach John Harbaugh in this big game so I like my chances with the generous 11.5 and just have a feeling the Steelers could take this one outright?Trends? The Ravens have several solid trends leaning their way while the Steelers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games, 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games as a dog between 0.5 ? 3.0 and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog?but are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games in Baltimore.
Pittsburgh 20 Baltimore 16 WINNER!
