Learned that Carolina could probably win without Smith, they just can't win with Gamble.

no, not yet....being a long-time BEARS fan...they're winning with smoke and mirrors like last season, and then they got smoked by a real team in the playoffs that had a good balance of "O" and "D"

....yes...they won against inferior opponents....GB and Detroit....what?

Hopefully Grossman will continue to put up career like numbers...he's gonna need to.

Let's reserve the judgement on them until they play a solid team a few weeks down the line....

and lookin at their sched....geez, there isn't anything i'm really excited about...

9/24/06 @ Minnesota
10/01/06 Seattle
10/08/06 Buffalo
10/16/06 @ Arizona
10/29/06 San Francisco
11/05/06 Miami
11/12/06 @ N.Y. Giants
11/19/06 @ N.Y. Jets
11/26/06 @ New England
12/03/06 Minnesota
12/11/06 @ St. Louis
12/17/06 Tampa Bay
12/24/06 @ Detroit
12/31/06 Green Bay

not to disrespect any other teams....but the real litmus test will be against Seattle and N.E....if they split or go 2 - 0 then it would be reason to say that they could be real.

they have a real patsy schedule this season....but you know what, they still gotta win the games.

I think the Giants qualify for the bold too.

So. Cal
as a bears fan i'll chime in

if this team stays healthy they are a real threat to make the super bowl, but grossman is the key

they actually have an offense with him on the field, throw the ball DOWN field, and spread the ball around.......once the gametape starts spreading people will start respecting the bears passing game and then their running game will take over

also

the defense is in a much better position to be successful this season because of the offense......no more having to win the game and being on the feld all the time after 3 and outs (led by kyle orton) thus, in theory they should stay fresh for the entire season (we kind of died out the last 3 weeks and playoffs last year)

throw in the "easy" schedule and they have a real chance at a #1 or #2 seed and a bye and home field

that said, the next 2 weeks at minn and home vs sea should say alot

i also learned that i was correct in my august opinion......the fking raiders stink!

What have we learned? Offensive line problems have reduced TB,Oak, and Carolina to less than mediocre teams.(I'm being generous in the Raiders being a raiders fan. It will be long year)

San Diego is a legitimate Super Bowl contender. This defense is loaded with speed and have bought into the system completely. Also,LT will most likely break the yards from scrimmage record this year and will probably win at least 3 games himself. Another thing in thier favor is losing Drew Brees. Don't get me wrong he is a very solid Qb. The reason this helps SD is the whole team knows they will have to put out extra effort all year to compensate for Rivers inexperience. This is one of those team building events that get everyone on the same page. Very well could be Shottenheimers' year.

Denvers' running game is still one of the best but Plummer has heard the calls for Cutler and its clear the whole thing has him rattled. I believe he has already conceded the job and will be benched in 3-4 games. Then Denver will really go downhill. Maybe tough for them to get to playoffs this year.

Atlanta defense has improved greatly. They will be tough at home all year. The running game if Dunn can hold up will give their D plenty of rest and keep them fresh for the late season run.

Got a lot more but long-winded as usual.Great Thread!

I love SD... but...

I love SD... but...

Once in the playoffs, you cannot discount the Shottenheimer factor - his offense will go into a shell (much like Art Shell) and conservative will not win playoff games.

My Titans are HORRIBLE and it will be a mad dash with Oakland for the 1st pick in the draft.

Washington has a lot of offensive problems and will continue to have them once Portis is back.

Despite the Titans sucking, SD has a very good defense.

SF might be a pretty good play throughout the year.

The under in Denver games look to be a pretty good value.
