BODOG NFL Football ODDS - Week 5
*** Ravens vs. Jets ***
For the Baltimore Ravens, it was their defense that came through last Sunday when they faced-off with the determined New York Jets. End result?
The Ravens won, 13-3, giving the Jets with only a mere field goal to let them see their team's name on the score sheets. The Ravens' defensive leader on the field, Ray Lewis,
Prediction: Take Lions -1
*** BROWNS MEET BEARS IN A MEDIOCRE SHOWDOWN ***
The Chicago Bears and the Cleveland Browns are somewhat mirror images of each other. Each team own a similar 1-2 win-loss record and both are coming off bye-weeks in this year's NFL warfare.
However, once it's time to kickoff the football for NFL Sunday, all the similarities will end and if I was a betting man, I would have to put my money on the Bears in this proverbial battle, not for supremacy, but the bitter taste of mediocrity.
Prediction: The Chicago Bears should have an easy time dismantling whatever the Cleveland Browns can come up with. Take the Bears +3
*** PACKERS LOOK TO BULLY BROKEN-DOWN SAINTS ***
The Green Bay Packers have nothing to show for so far in this season of NFL football warfare. On NFL Sunday, those broken-down New Orleans Saints will come into town and the Packers could very well take advantage and bully them off the field.
Brett Favre knows so well that this losing streak has to end.
Prediction: The New Orleans Saints, with a 19-7 victory over the Buffalo Bills, are coming into this Sunday's game with high spirits. However, the Green Bay Packers are getting desperate to score a 'W' and there's nothing more dangerous than an animal with its back against the wall. Take Packers -3
*** PATRIOTS WITH REVENGE ON THEIR MINDS***
The New England Patriots are coming off a very disappointing loss last Sunday. This week, the Patriots will be facing the Atlanta Falcons, a team riding on back-to-back victories on the football field.
When it's all said and done, expect the Patriots to get back to the winning column at the expense of Michael Vick and his boys.
For the second time in three weeks, New England will face a 2004 conference finalist. Yes, it doesn't get any easier for the defending Super Bowl Champions.
However, there's something fueling this New England Patriots team that might just carry them past these surging Falcons and that is utter humiliation.
Prediction: In any case, this coming face-off between Tom Brady of the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons' Michael Vick will definitely be one to watch. Expect the Super Bowl Champions to rise to the occasion on NFL Sunday Night Football? NO! Take the FALCONS -3
*** DOLPHINS SWIM FOR BUFFALO TO CONQUER THE FIELD ***
The Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills have been through numerous football battles on the entire 100-yard field. Out of all those epic matches on the field, the Dolphins hold a commanding 48-29-1 lead over their rivals from Buffalo.
Prediction: The Miami Dolphins literally own the Buffalo Bills. Come NFL Sunday Night Football, the Dolphins will play with the Bills like play thing. Take the FINS +3
*** JETS WILL ENCOUNTER THE TAMPA BAY TURBULENCE ***
The New York Jets own a miserable 1-3 win-loss card so far in this NFL Season. Things won't get any easier for these Jets as a red hot Tampa Bay Buccaneers team will come in to take advantage of the Jets' misery.
The win enabled the Buccaneers to join a very exclusive group of unbeaten teams, joining the Washington Redskins, Cincinnati Bengals and the Indianapolis Colts.
Prediction: This Tampa Bay Buccaneers team is literally untouchable so far at this stage of the NFL season. When they meet the New York Jets for NFL Sunday Night Football, expect these Bucs' to remain 'untouched.' Take the BUCS -3
*** THE SEAHAWKS WILL BE RAMMED IN ST. LOUIS ***
The St. Louis Rams will play their second home game of the current season when they welcome the visiting Seattle Seahawks for NFL Sunday Night Football.
The Rams and the Seahawks are mere images of each other so far in this NFL Season. Both the Rams and the Seahawks opened the season with losses to their rivals.
Prediction: When both of these two teams meet, the similarities will end as the Rams will come in, winning their last four meetings with their rivals on NFL Sunday. Both teams would want to earn the 'W' on NFL Week 4 but the St. Louis Rams are on a roll, racking up victories over the Seattle Seahawks and on NFL Sunday Night Football, expect the trend to continue. Take the RAMS -3
*** TITANS TROUNCE TEXAS ***
Last week, the Tennessee Titans were trashed, dominated and humbled when the Indianapolis Colts destroyed everything Tennessee can come up with. The end result was an embarrassing 10-31 loss for Tennessee.
Prediction: Surely, the Tennessee Titans really do have something to be excited about come NFL Sunday when they visit Houston Texas to play the lowly Texans. This game could very well be a one-sided affair. Take the TITANS +3.
*** REDSKINS WILL FEEL BITTER TASTE OF DEFEAT***
The Denver Broncos are currently riding high on a three-game winning streak. On NFL Sunday Night Football, the Broncos will host the undefeated Washington Redskins and when it's all said and done, it will be the Redskins' streak that will be snapped.
The Broncos will come into this Sunday's NFL battle with a 20-7 domination of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Prediction: Come game time, expect the Denver Broncos to snap this undefeated streak put up by the Washington Redskins. Take the Broncos -7.
*** PANTHERS FEAST ON CARDINALS FOR NFL SUNDAY MARDI GRAS***
The Carolina Panthers, with a solid 2-2 win-loss card, will visit the Cardinals in Arizona to celebrate NFL Sunday Night Football. Sun Devil Stadium is the venue, 4:15 EST is the time and when it's about to start, the Arizona Cardinals will be dinner.
ARE THE PANTHERS COMFY AS THIRD BEST? With the rate they are going this season, this could very well hold true. However, these Panthers may have something up their sleeves and when it's time, boom... Take Panthers -3
*** BENGALS REMAIN PERFECT IN JACKSONVILLE***
The Cincinnati Bengals, quite surprisingly, have remained undefeated at this stage of the NFL Season. On NFL Sunday Night Football, the 2-2 Jacksonville Jaguars will play host to these red-hot Bengals and when it's all said and done, it will be 'bang bang bye bye' for the home team.
A great football team has a will to win and in this case, on NFL Sunday Night Football, the team with the will to win won't be the Jacksonville Jaguars but the Cinderella team of the Cincinnati Bengals. Take the BENGALS +3
*** BIG TEST FOR ALEX SMITH & 49ers***
For Alex Smith, he has been waiting for this opportunity to take over the football field and start in an NFL regular season game. This Sunday, Alex Smith will be facing his toughest test yet as the San Francisco 49ers host the Indianapolis Colts for Week 5 of this NFL football warfare.
Tim Rattay has been a disaster this year. His ineffectiveness has already reached a point of no return that the 49ers organization had no choice but to begin this 'changing of the guard' so to speak.
For the Indianapolis Colts, they have displayed a tremendous defensive intensity this year that will prove too much for any quarterback the Niners can come up with.
The San Francisco 49ers, with a miserable 1-3 start, would do anything to get back on track. Perhaps that's what made them push Alex Smith to the starting role, or maybe Tim Rattay really had it coming with his disappointing performance this year.
Prediction: Can Alex Smith follow the lead of Donovan McNabb, Peyton Manning and Michael Vick who were promoted as starting QBs in their rookie year? Perhaps the bigger question here is can the San Francisco 49ers, riding on the shoulders of their rookie, stop this onslaught the Indianapolis Colts will unleash? Take the 49ers +16
